I thought this forum page was dedicated to NRL. This should be in TFC shouldn't it?
Haven't read the thread just this last page. I take it it's about sokka. I opened it thinking it was a bump of an old Gallop bashing thread. Seems it must be a new Gallop/sokka bashing thread.
Why?
It's over now isn't it?
Let's just hope the Wonder Year fans who've caused trouble over the last few weeks won't return to supporting the Dogs.

Speaking of crowd behaviour in RL though, pitch invasion at Tonga vs Samoa. Dopes. Way to get an entertaining game marked 'Never to be played again'.

All you nonces complaining about the "atmosphere" at the A-League Grand Final are either delusional, jealous or just plain dumb.

You say you dont attend the matches for their atmosphere, but to watch the game.
OK. I'll stay at home and jump up and down on the lounge. ffs.

If that is truly the case. Stay home and watch it on TV. You will get commentary, half time reports, images from the sheds, injury reports, replays, referee audio, stats and you wont have to worry about the guy next to you yelling out support for his team.

Fact is, you attend the game because of the atmosphere.

The viewing of the event is far superior on the TV. Dont try to convince yourselves that you dont attend games for their atmosphere. The atmosphere and the bragging of "seeing it live" are the only 2 reasons to go to the game.

Give it up.
Since when does "atmosphere" mean "destruction"? When will you geniuss get the f*cking point that destroying property is not atmosphere?

Stop condoning your approval of public hooliganism and anti social behaviour buy painting it up as something desirable. Its obvious that you are a f*cking genius if you condone that destruction. F*ck off to a soccer site and loot and pillage that you dickhead.

I wonder how many of the Islander contingent at the Sam v Ton were arrested for entering the playing field the other night. Oh thats right none, cos they were showing passion...

Police have congratulated the tens of thousands of fans at tonight’s NRL Grand Final on their exemplary behaviour.

Operation Peard at ANZ Stadium involved significant police resources, including officers from general duties, the Operational Support Group, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Mounted Police Unit, Dog Unit, Police Transport Command and Region Enforcement Squad.

As a result of the operation,

• 43 people were ejected from the stadium by police and event security for intoxication and anti-social behaviour;
• One person was charged with assault police;
• One person was issued a ticket for supply liquor to intoxicated patron;
• Four people were fined for offensive conduct inside and surrounding the venue.

“Considering the magnitude of the crowd – some 83,000 people – we’re extremely happy with this result,” said Operation Peard Commander, Detective Superintendent Peter Lennon.

“It was great to see genuine fans there to watch the game they love, and for families to enjoy rugby league’s pinnacle event in a safe environment.”

Superintendent Lennon attributed this positive result to football fans heeding police messages in the lead-up to the event about drinking responsibly and behaving appropriately.

“A high-visibility policing operation at the stadium and on trains to and from Olympic Park no doubt contributed to the good result,” Det Supt Lennon added.

21 out of 42,000 is pretty much the same percentage as 43 out of 83,000.

Why then is one code's crowd conduct praised while the other's is vilified?

? 43 people were ejected from the stadium by police and event security for intoxication and anti-social behaviour;
? One person was charged with assault police;
? One person was issued a ticket for supply liquor to intoxicated patron;
? Four people were fined for offensive conduct inside and surrounding the venue.

How many seats were destroyed at the NRL Grand Final? Why are you trying to put down RL?

Newsflash dickhead, i go to the game because i want to see my team play live and in the flesh. It has nothing whatsoever to do with 'bragging' i go because i love my team and love the game. They're the main reason but i also love the social aspect of it spending time with my mates and having a beer.

Unlike A-League fans we can and do enjoy having a beer watching the game without jumping up and down on seats breaking them 'accidently' or deliberately doing so when my team loses (and even when they win), without throwing flares on the ground and setting them off in the crowd, without throwing drinks/cups at opposition players who dare score and certainly don't start fights with opposition fans either at the ground or opposition fans trying to have a nice quiet lunch before the game on the way to the ground as the youtube footage in this thread shows. I know it's a hard concept for an A-League fan to grasp but i can assure you it is possible.......

This coming from a Storm fan who's seen his fair share of games without atmosphere in the early days. Especially when we moved to the Docklands in the early 2000's where the place resembled a morgue for many of games we stayed there, there's a reason why we only stayed there for a season. Now while the atmosphere is way better at AAMI park as opposed to the earlier days i never have and never will decide whether i go to a game on what the atmosphere is like because to me that's way down on my list of criteria. In fact it doesn't even make it on it.

Did anyone read my post before having a go at me? I've condemned the seat damage, especially when the Cove jumps, they don't jump on the seats. Why the SFS haven't gone to foldup seats yet is a mystery anyway (but this isn't an excuse for the damage. I'm more thinking about the lack of space in the row. Most other places have gone to foldup seating and it would have the extra effect of giving more spaces for jumping.) The Cove's facebook page is filled with people angry at the damage, there are numerous pieces on the net condemning the damage, flare throwing and so on. Don't worry, football fans are upset with it, as well as non-football fans.

I can appreciate the work of the active supporters AND condemn the damage, flare throwing etc. There's no need to take it all out, you remove the bad elements. I tell you what, standing with the Dragons Army is good, but they have nothing on the Cove. The chants and support go beyond the name of the team, they have chants that are funny, passionate and not just focused on the supporter group as has been alleged by some here.

It's not that much of a thing. It's just that it seems to have received a large proportion of the discussion here. The Cove might jump for about 5 minutes out of 90, if that. It usually is brought out once, maybe twice per match.
