Its not the state --- its that absolutely infuriating moron non-pareil Daley & his pitiful record of analysing the game.

Bad enough we have someone who is complete & utter filth as a human being coaching NSW --- he has to be clueless to boot!

Did Daley run over your cat or something?

Are you Anthony Mundine?

Still wish McManus would get another shot on the wing.

A man can dream though :(

He's twice the player he was when he played for NSW a few years ago. Realistically though he's still about 5th in the queue, there's better wing depth around now.

So the changes since the main Origin squad last year:

2012 vs 2013

Stewart vs Ferguson
Hayne
Jennings
J Morris
Uate (B Morris in Game 3) vs B Morris
Carney vs Maloney
Pearce
Gallen
Farah
Tamou
Bird
Lewis
Watmough (Buhrer in Game 1)

Stewart (Scott in Game 3) vs Sutton (TBC)
Creagh vs Hoffman
Merrin (Williams in Game 3)
Grant (Williams in Game 1) vs Fifita

These are the key changes.

Maloney over Carney, and Ferguson on the wing shifting Hayne to fullback have been the big talking points. But as for the other ones...

No problem with Sutton, but annoyed that Gidley was selected first.
No problem with Fifita, he is big like Grant but is more mobile and destructive.
Creagh v Hoffman = meh. Don't rate either tbh.

Creagh and Hoffman have both been shown up in Origin.
Both horrible selections (Creagh the last few years).

Bring in Grant or Sims!

big hit!

Better off comparing the players with regard to the positions they'll play to Game 3 last year.

2013 Game 1 vs 2012 Game 3

(interchange / cover)

FB: Hayne vs Stewart

Right edge: Ferguson - J Moz - Maloney - Lewis- (Reynolds) VS B Moz - J Moz - Carney - Scott - (Lewis)

Left edge: B Morris - Jennings - Pearce - Hoffman - (Watmough) - (Sutton) VS Hayne - Jennings - Pearce - Bird - (Williams)

FE: Maloney vs Carney

Middle third rotation:
Props: Gallen - Tamou - (Fifita) - (Merrin) - (Watmough) VS Grant - Tamou - (Watmough) - (Creagh)

Small forward: Bird - (Merrin) - (Watmough) VS Gallen - (Watmough) - (Bird)

There are 6 personnel changes to the side from Game 3 last year.

much more alarming are the changes in combinations and positioning from this game.

Daley has practically picked a new team in terms of the way players will be used.

Yep, 4 players on debut isn't ideal at all, even if it is played in Sydney. It's too many changes for a team that went close. Obviously injuries brought in Ferguson as Daley said he would of selected B. Stewart at fullback. Fafita I can understand as a bolter usually always happens on the bench. But the Maloney, J. Reynolds / Sutton I don't think is a good idea.

Surely Sutton will get the nod over J. Reynolds. What does Josh bring to the table exactly? Kicking game? Not really. Great running game? Not really. Play-making ability? Nope. Just a bit of "mongrel," which means SFA against a side of Qld's quality

That is true, but that was also after a poor-average 2 games from Farah (injured or not, if he was too injured to play he should of pulled out).

The annoying thing was that when people saw Ennis (fully fit) was worse than an injured Farah, it took way too long to drop Ennis/

I must be the only one who thinks Josh Reynolds is one of the most overrated players in the comp.

Little creativity, no kicking game and can't tackle. Pulling off a big hit every now and then and appearing to be aggressive masks his poor defense. He will get trampled in Origin.

No you're not. I posted similar thoughts a couple of pages back and only one reply was given.

Whatever it is that makes him origin standard must be visible to some but I can't see it. Very happy for him to have a blinder and help us go 1 up though. Can't bag him too much before seeing how he goes.

Sutton will get picked.

Reynolds hasn't played well at all for the past month or so, since he hurt his shoulder.

Reynolds has a real cocky confidence that is winning over the media over Sutton who is not very talkative in front of the media. I expect this sort of thing will win over Daley too and he will pick Reynolds

TBH I don't see either having a big impact. Sutton won't play his natural game in origin, I have a feeling he'll try and ball play alongside maloney, pearce, farah and hayne and it'll just clutter (naturally through nerves), rather than running at the line. Either player isn't going to work.
