Based on rumours from the Soundwave website, although Maynard would be in 2 bands so cant see Tool and Puscifier both playing.

2016 soundwave is shaping to be the best ever for me. I have so many bands I want to see.

Its still the weakest Ive seen from a metal perspective. And the headliner is pretty average IMO. I'm sure there will be some more decent bands announced but me personally will only be going for 2 maybe 3 bands at this stage.

There are a few bands in there I like, but most of them are terrible.

so the prodigy, public enemy, L7, Deftones, Frenzal Rhomb, NOFX, Lordi and disturbed are considered metal now?

Deftones and disturbed are metal.

A band doesn't have to be death metal to be classified as metal.

If you are going to have a small line up you need to bring bands that are going to pull crowds which AJ has done. Underground death metal bands don't bring the numbers. There's no room for those kinds of bands on this lineup, and until it goes back to 80 odd bands there never will be.

I hope Soundwave festival dies as a result of this year's lineup just to vindicate my tastes in music.

I hope Soundwave festival dies as a result of this year's lineup just to vindicate my tastes in music.

They only need to pull about 13-15k in Brisbane to be on par with previous years. The festival has essentially halved. They are using half the space, have half the bands, half the stages. They don't have Adelaide and perth to leak any money. Soundwave is here to stay.

This has to be the final Soundwave. Disturbed arent a Headliner and i thought Public Enemy and The Prodigy were Hip Hop. It's not looking great when Disturbed and BMTH are listed as the top bands on the bill.

The only other SW's i've attended Iron Maiden, Slipknot and Metallica were headlining.

Disturbed are big enough to headline, they are 2nd and 3rd level headliners for the bigger European festival, they have about 12million Facebook followers. Yeah they are probably the smallest headliner in a few years but they are by no means a small band.

And what point are you making about public enemy and the prodigy? Soundwave has had hip hop before, they always have a few random genres on the bill.

And why wouldn't BMTH be high on the bill? They are massive now, they are high on the lineup in any other festival they play at, just because you don't like them doesn't mean they aren't a big band.

I was just using death metal as an example, as death metal fans seem to have some of superiority complex against other metal sub genres.

And how are Deftones and disturbed not metal? What genre are they? Both would fit into the nu metal genre with Deftones leaning a tad towards alternative and disturbed towards rock, but essentially they are metal.
