Oh and CH BF4MV don't always pack out the main stage. I watched them from the stands a few years ago in Brissy and the main stage was far from being remotley full. Was hilarious watching them trying to woo the crowd with their new trash and about 1/3 of the crowd were gone by the 2nd song. They had to go back to their early shit (which was actually pretty good back in the day)very quickly to keep the crowd interested and around. They are well past their used by date.

Nah - they're just awful, and always have been.

If only they got Hate to play...

It's not even about the quality of the bands here. I'm sure Il Nino have a heap of fans for some reason, whatever.

The point is that 2011-2014 SW massively grew in popularity, at least in part due to fans of true metal. Now AJ has abandoned those fans in favour of trend hopping alternative-nu-core bands. Even if some of them are outstanding for fans of those genres, it doesn't change the fact that heavy metal, thrash metal, power metal, death metal, black metal fans have been totally shafted and are understandably pissed.

AJ thinks the bands he's picked will pull a crowd, I'm hoping it bombs and bombs hard.

When I was 13, I loved Ill Niño, because hey - Spanish lyrics and Latin percussion.

Then my balls dropped and I realised how terrible they were, are and always will be.

I'm expecting less people to go because the lineup is garbage.

Lowering the quality and quantity of the lineup and then calling it a success when less people go is the logic of a genius.

Presumably the success of the event will be measured by the profit it generates, not whatever metric you're using in your head. That makes last year's a total failure, I'm pretty sure... hence the reaction from organisers this year. They're in this to generate income, not to make genre elitist metal kids get erections.

How many bands are left to be added?

Obviously there will be no more bigger bands added so i'm just hoping for somebody like Brand New (A rock band that hasn't already played SW) or even the reformed Sum41 playing Chuck or Does this look Infected (2 albums before Brown Sound left).

You guys are such haters. Soundwave 2016 will do exceptionally well. You will all see. Metalcore and hardcore are the only genres worth basing a festival around.

Brand New would get me there on their own. I kind of hope not though, because every indication from the band is that they are running on fumes and won't be doing it long after the next album, and I'd prefer them to headline their own tour.

Legitimately only one band that I'd go to see at the moment. I long for the days of 2011.

They're not going to turn a profit if people aren't showing up - which is what happened this year, and looks like happening again next year.

You have no idea how ticket sales are going. No one does. People whinging on Facebook like they do every year doesn't really correlate to ticket sales.

I would have gone last year if they'd compressed the line ups and had it over 1 day.

This year's lineup has a couple of bands I like but it's pretty weak.

Deftones were possibly the best live show I've been to, but that was in the 90s and at the Roxy.

Apart from that I can't get excited about any of it (so far).

Yep, was all in my head.

Soundwave won't be back in 2017.

or ever by the sound of it

AJ said her is sick of the whinging and stupid, he has a point tho as he can never satisfy everyone, no matter what line up he had for the BDO or SW people would still bitch about the line ups

that said SW is still the best concert in Australia imo, we have concerts almost monthly now and they are all lightweight middle of the road pop bands

might have to go to SW16 as we may not see anything like this ever again

When are they announcing the headline acts? The band list is looking like the who's who of.... who?

There are plenty of great gigs in every city every week.

I wish more people would rediscover their local music scene.

You can see unknown musicians and front people that rival the greats for under 15 bucks.
