Spoon watch 2023

By around 7.30pm on Saturday night the battle for the spoon will be a lot clearer.
Wests struggled to beat a badly depleted Dolphins side, so with the Roosters still a chance to make the 8 and mindful of their for and against, I am expecting them to win well on Saturday night.
Of course, a victory by the Dragons on Friday night would be the ultimate way of putting this thread to bed.

Saints winning on Friday will make watching the rest of the NRL games till the end of the season so much better knowing that the Saints avoided the spoon. Sad I know to be happy with this outcome which we have yet to experience for a while, but I am really hoping the boofheads in charge realise how poor they have been and not to let this happen again by giving dud coaches too long to prove themselves. A season I hope were lessons are learnt and end up being the catalyst for a success.

So the only good news to come out of the loss tonight is the 12 points losing margin leaves us 45 points better off in our overall differential compared to the Tigers.
Please please please Roosters win by a very big score tomorrow.

Tigers have scored first against the Roosters. We will be wooden spooners oh no!!

I never thought that I would be barracking for the Roosters. They score and make it 6 all. Sam Walker can join us if he is not wanted at the Chooks.

A slight sigh of relief. Roosters leading 14-8 at halftime.

Now we are.

Job done.

I'm actually relieved we wont get the spoon. @thebigredv said, its f**king sad.
The sad bit for me is how foreseeable it has been over the last decade of keeping rubbish coaches and players around to spearhead our club.

it’s hard to see anything different tbh for the near future. Nothing but more false hope and not yet enough to get excited about. Shame.

So the difference now is 69 points in our favour. The Tigers will need to beat Manly by say 35 points and we get done by 35 points against the Knights that will mean the Tigers will get out of jail by one point and we take home the wretched spoon. Not bloody likely ???

Anything is possible is right BSE. The way things have been this year who knows?

I have only put this up as a reverse psychology thing hoping that none of the above happens.

After next weekend, it will be the funny season not too far away and I'm looking forward to some really positive stuff coming out from the club regarding signings, who is leaving, etc.

Then next year, we start all over again. Wow, another year - where has time gone. I will be 77 in February which will be so hard to believe. The Spring chicken that once was is now a wrinkly old Cocka Doodle Doo - hahaha!

The tigers and dogs have been improving their roster year on year.. while we sat there on our hands.. we would be specials for the 2024 Wooden Spoon imo, if not for the 'chance' that Flanagan can turn this ship around with whatever dregs are in the roster and get us into ~10-12th spot.. with a roster building for 2025.

They mentioned on the radio that we lost every single away game this season.. wow.

Lost every single away game and haven't won consecutive games all year the team below us has done both of those things. Has really been a POS year.
