Do you know if French has been training with the squad ?

Yep! He and Twal have participated in training since day one I believe. Tyrell Fuimaono was also there recently but he is recuperating from an injury to his right foot and is in a moon boot.

Photos of French show him still very skinny.

Like Greg Inglis was ?

So we've seen them in the photos but Fuimaono and Twal have profiles up with the squad so I've included them here:

2016
Fullback: French, Gordon, Moss
W/C: Faraimo, Folau, Gutherson, Morgan, Radradra, Schulte, Toutai
Half: Cornish, Foran, Kelly, Norman
Hooker: De Gois, King, Peats, Pritchard
Edge forward: Edwards, Gower, Ma'u, Moeroa, Pauli, Scott, Tanginoa, Ualesi
Tight forward: Alvaro, Hasson, Mannah, O'Brien, Paulo, Terepo, Twal, Watmough, Wicks, Woods
Utility: Fuimaono, Nelson, Takairangi

2017
Fullback: French
W/C: Folau, Gutherson, Morgan, Radradra
Half: Foran
Hooker: -
Edge forward: Edwards, Gower, Ma'u, Moeroa, Pauli, Scott
Tight forward: Mannah, Terepo, Watmough
Utility: Takairangi

2018
Fullback: French
W/C: Radradra
Half: Foran
Hooker: -
Edge forward: Scott
Tight forward: Watmough

2019
Fullback: -
W/C: -
Half: Foran
Hooker: -
Edge forward: -
Tight forward: -

So officially we have 39 merkins contracted for next year.

Even with French, Twal and Fuimaono dropping back down to the NYC we're still able to fill 2 full teams with that list with 2 players going back to the RMC.

Dunno how official we can call it, but on the club's site they have new profile photos for all the players on the side scroll panel. Honeti Tuha has a profile now, however Twal and French (eligible for NYC) have had their profiles removed. Tyrell Fuimaono (also NYC eligible next year) still has his profile up.

At the conclusion of last season French had form and all that stood before him was his own development given Hopoate, Robinson and Sandow (signaling Norman would be considered at a 5/8 moving forward). Come 2016 he is now in the mix with Gordon, Gutherson, Moss, Gardner and potentially Hiku. How quickly his road to the NRL became congested. Makes ya wonder Poo.

I heard midway through 2015 that the club wants French to have another year in NYC (2016) with maybe some games for Wenty later in the season with a view to 2017 being his NRL ready year.

That would take Gordon, Moss and Gardner out of the way unless any of them earns an extension. Gutherson seems destined for the three-quarters despite having some FB experience and Hiku, well we haven't signed him yet so who knows what the plans are there.

Gardner has been signed by Wenty, not Parra. The signing of Gardner has no impact on where French plays or when he makes his first grade debut.

You'd think Gardner wouldn't have signed unless there was a good chance of playing some NSW Cup through the year.

French will train full time, at least in the pre-season, but I'm sure he'll spend most of 2016 in the NYC.

Doesn't mean he will impact on French playing NRL. French will debut before Gardner, if there is a decision between which one will play NRL.

Taka is notoriously injury prone. Hiku will be our centre with Gutherson.

Why would we break up the most dangerous left side in the NRL for a rookie with less 5 NRL games.

Gutherson is more injury prone then Mr T.

I didn't say I wouldn't start him. I love Taka. It's just that he always gets injured and we will have no choice.
