Definitely not happening in the Western Terrace

This is true. I have never been stopped for my ticket in the WT.

In saying that we do have problems with people sitting in the wrong seat.
Last night there was this "lady" (and I say this extremely loosely). Who was not sitting in her correct seat. When the members turned up whose seat she was sitting on asked her to move, she told them to "p*ss off, I was here first". When they said that these were their "members seats" She just glared at them and said "what part of p*ss off don't you understand".

This was made even more interesting when the ticket stadium staff asked her to move. Then it was on for young and old. It seemed that she should have been in the Northern Terrace, but like the view from the Western Terrace instead. They ended up calling cops, but she moved before they arrived, but not before some very choice words went flying.

Was the most entertaining part of the night :D

There were a few people sitting in the wrong seats in the Eastern Terrace last night but when they were asked to move by members they walked off with no dramas

The Terraces would not experience this problem as it is to their benefit, they can now access the Food and Beverage areas previously only accessible to Members of the crowd in the grandstands, the ushers are there to protect the seating of those in the grandstand from those in the terrace, this is why those in the grandstands have to show their ticket each time the go to enter the seated section of the Grandstand. Previously there was a fence keeping the two areas separate.

However, the additional outside food and Beverage area was 2/3rds closed (with only the coffee cart going) and as such made it even more difficult for those in the Grandstands to get food or Drinks but not those in the terraces.

I have sent and email reply to the stadium staff member who told me this was to be fixed to ask what happened.

I also noticed a distinct lack of security last night, the security company is also contracted to the Easter show and have appeared to have ignore Parra last night.

Bingo

That's the major point. The outlets are very under staffed which effects the amount of people being served at peak periods.

The problem is not the gates being opened up people.

IT'S THE SERVICE.....

Given he was so friendly and polite to you this time, maybe you should next show it to him if he ever asks just as a mark of respect.

No sorry, it is not the sole problem. I am a pissed off loyal member who now has to show proof that I pay more to sit in the stand.
Close the gates, remove the people checking tickets and spend the money on these people in catering and ushers to help lost people

The service could be improved, but the same could have been said since about 1990.

But to me... the problem is that gates being opened. That's the only thing that's changed this season (the service is still the same), yet you have grandstand Members being inconvenienced with ticket checks and relatively worse access to food and drink.

Spot on Hellsy. All they have to do is go back to how it was last year...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
And I'll go back to another previous suggestion... put in a temporary bar and food services for ready to eat/drink items to alleviate the lines they are apparently experiencing in the terrace. Moving the problem will not fix it!

Mate, the problem is that we the members in the grandstands are aggressively stopped from freely walking up the stairs to our seats, not only do we need to show our Passes, but the ushers need to verify that we are using the correct stairwell for our the our seats. This is the problem having the gates open causes.

Some of us don't buy food or drink at the game, if I do I buy a Skim Hot Chocolate at the stall downstairs and I have NO problems with the quick and easy service I receive.

The problem is showing the tickets. You get your food and a Drink, your hands are full and then you have to show your ticket. Or you have just had a slash, walking back up, stopped to show your tickets. Someone goes for a Smoke, stopped to show your tickets.

There are 4000 people in these grandstands, and 4 stairwells. If everyone goes to get something or the bathroom or a smoke, just once, then the person at the stairwell has to check 2000 tickets over the day. So instead of the free flowing traffic we have had for almost 25 years, we have bottle necks at the bottom of the stairs. Considering the food and Beverage stalls are near these stairs it makes it even worse with people just milling around.

According to Mark Warren, this action was taken to allow people a better range of options. Now seriously It is all the same stuff at almost every single stand, just a different place to get it. The only additional thing that some terrace people might be able to get is a decent cappuccino, or some Mexican, now is all this stress worth a skim cap or nachos for those in the terraces ?

We all know that the food and drinks service could be handled much better, but this is not the MAJOR ISSUE.

But Mark, the problem HAS arisen from the appalling service and lack of food and beverage outlets for the concourse patrons.
The opening of the gates was the stadiums poor attempt at trying to alleviate this problem. Jodeci has a point. If they fixed the catering in the concourse, they wouldn't need to open the gates. To be honest, the stadium is becoming a bit of a dinosaur.

Yes but closing the gates will put the focus back on the poor service and not cause other patrons, who do not use those facilities the issues they are currently faced with. The issue is that the gates are open, I know what caused them to be opened but the food and beverage service is not our biggest grip now that they are open.

As to the Stadium, yes I agree. It is very much becoming a dinosaur, as you pointed out to me at the SFS, which is a few years younger but ultimately well set out, and much easier to for food and drink. The same with ANZ, which is a fantastic setup, and if the best that some fans can do to criticise it, is to say you are "too far away" then I am more than happy to continue going there and let the whingers whinge.

Absolutely agree.
What you stand patrons need to do is annoy the hell out of the stadium trust with emails and complaints. I've sat in the Cronin Stand almost every season since the place opened, but unfortunately, haven't had the pleasure yet this season. I'd be furious if I had to show my ticket every time I walked up the stairs.

From what is being said here, the issues are:

- Lines too long for food stand
- showing your ticket when leaving your seat and returning
- service at the food stalls are very slow

If you think closing the gates will help reduce all those issues, then I hope they close the gates to make some people happy in this place.

The lines have always been long with regards to getting a beer or something to eat and the service by the people working in the food stalls have always been very poor.

Which other stadium has this type of setup where the gates effects the service?

Like I mentioned, it doesn't bother me whether the gates are open or close anyway
