Stalled and stagnant Sydney clubs

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are hardly flush with funds. North Sydney Bears were broke by 2003, without a stadium of their own, and Sea Eagles have picked up low end sponsors over the past 20 years.

Cowboys, Storm, Broncos, Raiders Warriors and Titans draw better sponsorship deals with more affluent companies than the turkeys from Manly.

Roosters have no trouble signing good sponsorship deals.

I'm following the theme of this thread, which is stagnant Sydney clubs and how to make them better. It's my opinion that one club from Southern Sydney can become big by rebranding while the other one bites the dust and, Roosters can become like the Broncos on the basis Sea Eagles f**k off.

Sydney's NRL clubs are struggling to compete with the Swans because they're cannibalising themselves into oblivion. The big end of town has voted with their dollars and are not getting behind all nine Sydney NRL clubs. Fans are reluctant to attend games to the same extent as the Swans. It is what it is and refusing to acknowledge it will not solve anything.

find someone from Sydney who actually understands Sydney who says there are too many clubs and you may get some traction

mans by moving there it gives Cronulla the space to grow. The dragons can’t really compete anymore with Cronulla for the south of Sydney since they are so cashed up now

Neither of these things will ever happen. Manly will never rebrand to North Sydney Sea Eagles and they'll never relocate to SFS. They're a low brow club run by insular dinosaurs who think it's still 1967.

The Northern stand and centre of excellence was just completed. It’s heavily rumoured we’re next in line for funding for more of Brookvale to be rebuilt.

The club will never drop Manly from its name, it’s part of the brand. Warringah may get dropped in favour of other branding one day, but the Manly name isn’t going anywhere as long as the club is in Sydney.

Michael Searle's Centre of Excellence debacle was brought on by the GFC breaking out not long after the club was introduced. It was bad timing for a new club and a noose that hung around the their neck. Stadiums Queensland didn't help by charging a massive hiring fee just to use Robina Stadium. That's over and done with now.

Titans now have a strong ownership model and attracts high end sponsors like Village Roadshow.

Manly on the other hand has a betting company as their major partner. One of their three premier partners is a rubbish bin company. The club has been around since 1946 and is still a rabble.
