Apparently she was abandoned at a young age. Depending on how young might justify how she has an English accent as opposed to the same one as her alleged parents.

On the contrary. I loved Rose Byrne in Bad Neighbours with her Australian accent. Then again she could be mute and I'd still love her

Worst example is Sam Worthington in Terminator Salvation. You can hear his Australian slip in from time to time

Yeah, unlike her mother who grew up somewhere on the planet Alderaan, Rey grew up in England.
