yep, this will be my last visit to this thread for a while.

can everyone *TRY* to use the spoiler tags when discussing plot points and what-not please.

there is a warning in the thread title but someone will inevitably bitch and moan about reading something they shouldn't have.

How about we start a new thread tomorrow morning for those that have seen it, so people who haven't seen it can discuss it on here (and those that have can still be part of that that discussion if the don't leak spoilers), then after a week or 2 we merge the threads?

]Someone suggested this in the other Star Wars thread so I'll kick it off!

Be warned that you should ONLY read on or contribute to the thread if you have seen The Force Awakens and wish to discuss your reactions and opinions freely.

THIS THREAD WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS AND OPEN DISCUSSION OF THE PLOT, CHARACTERS ETC! READ ON AT YOUR PERIL. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Mods: can we leave this thread on it's own for now. Can merge with the other Episode 7 thread later on.

12 hours!!
Been waiting 22 odd years for this ever since i saw the original trilogy as a kid (couldn't imagine how the older guys who have waited since jedi came out in the 80s much feel).
The prequels were just not the same, it was about a different set of characters which we never really cared about, these sequels are about the characters we love (han , lukr, chewie, leia, r2 and c3po) and the after affects of their adventures!

the first film i saw in it's entirety was ESB at the cinemas in 1980, followed by ANH on tv with ads (boo)

mum took me to the Hoyts cinema on Hunter Street in Newy in January 1984 for my birthday to see ROTJ - she dropped me off and went shopping, and i had the entire theater to myself, which was pretty cool for a 10 year old.

i'm booked in for episode 7 on Saturday arvo now that work has informed me of my roster up until Christmas, so i was going to do the marathon in quick time between now and then but i don't have any of the prequels, apart from a fan edit of episode 3 called "the black knight rises" which isn't bad, cuts out most of the shitty dialogue.

i also have HD copies of the original trilogy, not yet f**ked-by-Lucas somewhere but i cannot find them, which is starting to shit me.

Doing Jedi today but also doing the Celebration and Comic Con panels again.

The feels. They're real. All of them.

I just never thought this film could possibly happen. For years all you heard was that the saga is meant to be 9 films and now we finally get to see them. I remember being 4 and sitting on a bean bag watching Star Wars in the lounge room at my nanna's house in Malabar. My uncle was looking after me and he put it in the VCR (might have even been BetaMax) and I was just transfixed. Easiest baby sitting gig my uncle ever had!

Not long after there was a promotional visit by Darth Vader to the St. George bank at Riverwood and I insisted my parents take me. Problem was when he showed up I got so scared that mum and dad had to take me home because I was screaming and crying so hard!

Lots of memories tied up in the classic trilogy and Star Wars has always been part of my life. I can take or leave the prequels but this is going to be something else entirely.

I cannot wait and will likely cry when I see the opening crawl tonight!

I was born in 1980 so star wars was pretty much my whole childhood.

Watching the originals on itunes now, ESB still holds up today IMO as an absolute master piece. Lucas absolutley f**ked it up with the prequels. The woeful dialogue, overcomplicated story line (how the hell can a kid understand the basic story line of the first one, it's more politcal back stabbing than an episode of 'house of cards') and of course the over use of CGI. I loved the use of real scenery/backgrounds in the originals, you know they are actually in a barren wastleland of Hoth at the start of ESB, not some gree screen bullshit that is fake and lack of realism (as much as a sci-fi movie can be real).

Cannnot wait for tonight. I remember my mum taking me in the mid 80's to the re-runs at the movies in Townsville and seeing them for the first time. Absolutley mind boggling and was taken away to another world.

I'm praying this happens again tonight.

Yeah. I was a 1980 baby too.

I always say that besides me being born that Empire and Origin were the best things about that year!

Think I will wait a couple of weeks.

Hopefully most have seen it by then and the place will not be packed with people who talk too much.

But have to big screen (cinema) this one.

I don't think any inconsiderate teenagers will be bothered to go at 930 in the morning...
