So nobody had a problem that the film was a rehash of a new hope????

Nope. It was much better than a new hope. Honestly people forget how truly bad the acting, pacing and dialogue was in the originals, this movie did everything better (and so it should). Star wars is a predictable and formulaic franchise, always has been, always will be, but it's accessible and enjoyable for all ages.

The whole franchise is about good vs evil in the face of insurmountable odds, how do you create that 'imminent' danger without weapons that can destroy planets? You can't really. It's pure unadulterated cheese, but enjoyable cheese.

This movie just set the platform for the sequels while honouring the original story, even if it was predictable, but the originals were predictable as well (except for the incest story arc).

I know this might be controversial and being a Disney film I'm way off but did anyone else get a man love vibe between Po and Fin ? Could we be looking at a bit of gay love in the Star Wars universe ? Just the scenes they had together when Fin sees Po and realises he's alive, the way he looked at him made me think there was some furious deep dicking about to go down.

I think somebody has been reading fan fiction for too long....

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Oscar Isaac who played Poe played him with a subtle romantic interest in Finn.

I don't think Finn's gay though, he and Rey will probably end up banging.

You can tell by the way Finn asked Rey "Do you have a boyfriend? do you have a boyfriend?" that he doesn't putt from the rough.

If BB8 has the hot's for Po, just like R2D2 has for Luke, what sort of a relationship do you call that? is there a word for it?

talk about going off the beaten track.....

I disagree about the pacing in the originals, A New Hope I agree does drag a little however the other two are perfectly paced IMO. The first thirty minutes of both include pretty iconic sequences and don't really let up.

I was pleasantly surprised watching ESB recently as I remember it being pretty slow in the middle. It's pretty quick compared to today's 2 and a half hour action films.

I think he says "do you have a boyfriend? A cute boyfriend?"

Maybe his next line was going to be "does he have a brother?"

I agree New Hope does drag a little at the beginning but pretty much from when they meet Han it's perfect. The Attack on the Death Star is one of if not the best ending to a film ever in my opinion.

I don't think ANH drags at all.
It spends a bit of time setting up the characters and the world they live in, and it does it very well.

I guess "drag" isn't the right word and it does do its job of setting up the world great, just if you've seen it sooo many times, like me, it is the least actiony part of the trilogy.

As for how Star Wars: The Force Awakens turned out, he would have approached it differently, as he contended he did when the franchise was in his hands. "They wanted to do a retro movie. I don't like that. Every movie, I worked very hard to make them different," Lucas said. "I made them completely different – different planets, different spaceships to make it new."

What did Lucas mean when he said that he sold the rights to Star Wars to the white Slavers????

He was trying to make a joke.
And as we all know, Lucas isn't the best at comedy. He has since apologised for that statement.

Starts off with some great action - Tantive IV being taken over by the Star Destroyer, and the introduction of Vader.
Then we get to follow the two droids as they meet up with Luke, and see how he lives and longs for a life bigger than his own.
It's a very important part of the trilogy, and I love it every time I see it (which is a lot :D)
