Watched it last night. A couple of things:

- so obvious that hans was going to die. FMD...it was so obvious that I thought a WWE writer was involved
- continuing on the wrestling theme, is it possible that Luke turns heal? Would make for an interesting plot twist, could always turn face again in IX
- I like the idea of Luke being on earth. That'd be cool

Great movie overall, loved it. By no stretch am I a Star Wars fan boy but I loved it

Nah, I hate the idea. This is suppose to be in a galaxy far far away. I don't want earth ruining it for me. If you're gonna do earth, you might as well have a whole bunch of Kiwi and Aussie actors.:crazy:

He's trying to live up to Vader. They developed that well actually. Solo before his death tells ren to take it off as he doesn't need it.

Not sure what everyone is expecting. Ren as revealed in this movie has not yet completed his training so he is fast from the finished product.

As for snoke... We haven't seen much of him at all.

As for c3pos arm, that does seem pretty apps .but he also does say that he's going to very it fixed. So I don't think that requires any more of an explanation.

Yes, I thought they developed that well too, but I don't think that is the reason he wears the mask. In Rey's flashback/vision it showed the Knights of Ren and they were all masked. I doubt it's because they all worship Vader.

Obviously having him unmasked the entire film would've been a little odd, but still, not a fan of the look personally. Also, curious to know how he got Vader's mask. Did Luke keep it, someone else came upon it maybe?

I do have this feeling that by the end of the trilogy there's going to be a lot of nitpicky questions left unanswered because they were put into the films as references to the originals more than plot points to be focused on.

Agree, Snoke is too much of an unknown at this point. It's not like the Emperor was a great focal point in the first two films.

This is interesting. From the official Star Wars website

So it's as some think. The New Republic is up and running. The First Order are remnants of the Empire, who want things to go back to the way they were. The New Republic don't consider them a threat. But Leia does and thus organised the Resistance.

Fair enough. I understand that now. But I wish they weren't called the Resistance. They're not really resisting anything still. They're repelling the Empire if anything. They're the Repels.

Personally, I hope that the First Order have a significant military waiting and can challenge the New Republic. I hope Snoke has has a bunch of Force trained warriors (Knights perhaps?) and Luke has his own Jedi Knights trained, of which Rey is now one, that were being trained in secret.

Well I guess that makes it all a bit neater, but seriously, it's great to see the New Republic is as dumb as the old one and its Jedi council that managed to miss that there was a powerful Sith Lord living next door to them

Anyway, looking forward to the next movie now. Really hope they manage to make Snoke better, because he looked a bit silly and generic.

That's really a good point. How is it that a Sith Lord could live and hide amongst them without them evening recognising the presence of the dark side or a strange unknown force amongst them.

The emperor's ship wasn't destroyed after ROTJ so its not unreasonable for them ie empire to keep it during their escape.

I'm actually curious to know after ROTJ what happen to all the troopers and clones. They must have outnumbered the rebels 100-1 and should have been all over the galaxy and not just on the death star.

Are we over-thinking it yet given none of it is real? ;-)

Well, in the EU, it says that the Jedi Temple was built on top of a massive ancient Sith artefact that was able to cloud the minds of all Jedi and also influence some to the dark side. There were apparently even instances of Jedi being possessed. But that's in the EU.

Luke took Vader's body to Endor and burnt his remains. I'm guessing Luke kept the helmet and Ren took it as he was defecting to the dark side

Haven't read this thread and haven't read this elsewhere. Just got back from watching it a second time. Both times I felt that Luke Skywalkers secret jedi temple in an "uncharted system" is earth.

Any takers to that theory?

Yes. That uncharted system is Ireland.

One thing I think was missing from the film is any memorable new designs for ships.

Yes it's great to have the old x-wings and ties back but it would've been nice to see a few different ones added in too.

The planet Luke was on was all green and water, it is obviously Naboo. Luke hasn't gone missing, he is just hanging out with Jar Jar.

There was one scene where Rey and Finn were in the millennium falcon evading the Tai Fighters that looked terrible. Only for about a second or 2 but it looked as though they were using models

I watched it again. Loved it more the second time.

Watching Han die again hurt just as much. I hate Kylo for killing him. Just like I first hated Vader for killing Obi Wan.

The next movie is going to be awesome.

They were. Literally. I thought JJ said they tried to keep CGI to a minimum and went for more models instead. Pity they CGI'd Snoke. He looked everything that is wrong with CGI.
