They missed a beat there not having Poe and Finn on a bromance. Instead they introduced some annoying chick no one could give two cents about. I also found it insulting that Rose would deny Finn from his destiny in taking out that cannon and then have the nerve to give him a kiss??? I mean like really?

it also didnt help that she wasnt hot.

The jump to light speed literally wiping out the entire fleet of the empire. I mean like really? Hmmmm... so would a jump to light speed at a planet also do the same thing???? Too easy.

The jokes. The cheesy jokes. No class no subtley about it. Just cheesy and not all that funny.

Carrie Fishers death. She should have stayed dead. It would have been fitting. Instead we get some magical resurrection BS and she gets to live another day. Curious to know what they will do with her in the next episode.

Snoke. Could his death been any more anticlimatic???

Reys parents. Who were they again? no one? Oh ok. Well that explains a lot.

3 best scenes beautifully filmed - the jump to light speed, Rey and Ben slow motion getting attacked after Snokes death and finally Ben against Luke getting into position.

I enjoyed it. Was it better than ESB or New Hope? no way. But its up there with Force Awakens.

Young Kids world wide will love it.

Sorry for the spoilers to those who havent seen it yet. Hahahahahha

Dreadnought jumps in, catches them completely by surprise, blows them away before they can formulate taking a shit.

They set it up from the first battle that the dreadnought takes some time to charge and aim its weapons. So they'd have had a small window to attack after it completed its jump, just as they did when it was slowly targeting the base and then their main ship.

And again, Poe gives their escape plan away to the enemy, causing all their transport ships that were successfully sneaking thousands of rebel troops to safety to be destroyed.

It crippled snokes ship and damaged some others due to what looked like a "schrapnel" effect. It didnt wipe them out at all

Id say the relative mass of a planet and its associated gravity would render that kind of tactic useless. Its SW canon that a large enough gravity well will pull a ship out of hyperspace

Saw it again last night. Still a disappointing affair for me. Too many plot holes and inconsistencies take me out of the movie.

Couple more annoyances I picked up;

- The weaponised hyperspace sequence contradicts what happens at the end of Rogue One when Vader's flagship turns up. All the rebel ships jumping into hyperspace burn up on impact with the Star Destroyer.

- Rose works in '"maintenance". Poe's genius plan to save the resistance was to send two janitors to infiltrate a casino planet which is the embodiment of capitalism and filled with oligarchs. Subtle juxtaposition, but they were doomed to fail....who piloted the ship on the way there too?

Um, none of those ships had made the jump to hyperspace m8 when they ran into the Devastator.

Oh come on this is too easy...
  • The First Order is smaller and less powerful than the Empire was. The Empire had far more resources - they controlled most of the galaxy, hence why they could rebound from the Death Star setback
  • Biology 101 doesn't exist in the Star Wars universe
  • Anyone can switch on a lightsaber
  • Yes we can add ghosts into the second movie when most of the whole universe lore hasn't even been created yet
  • The Force doesn't care if you're green and 3 feet tall
  • Leia and Han did have an impact on the plot. No, Luke did not complete all his training in 48 hours, hence why he easily lost to a Sith lord fighting barely in first gear
  • Leia is extremely force sensitive...
Terrible criticism of the TLJ criticism...

Obi Wan was flapping his gums to Luke during the death star sequence, so ghosts were established in the first one.

On what grounds is the First Order less powerful in TLJ? They too rule the entire galaxy out to the outer rim, they have far superior weaponry and ships than the Empire ever did. Seem pretty damned powerful to me.

  • Biology 101 doesn't exist in the Star Wars universe
But Leia surviving in space was clearly bullshit...

  • The Force doesn't care if you're green and 3 feet tall

Just don't be a woman

So what training does he get in order to become so powerful in ROTJ? He never trains again.

  • Leia is extremely force sensitive...
You are looking at it as someone who has al future knowledge of the Star Wars universe. Viewing Empire when it was released, Leia had no force ability and was not a skywalker.

- I don't think the first order rules the entire galaxy. That is what they are attempting to achieve.

- it doesn't make sense because then why didn't palpatine superman himself when chucked down a shaft by Vader? Or mace windu?

- don't get the woman comment

- he taps into the dark side to defeat Vader and catches him off guard with his equal natural power of force, which is a far quicker path to power than the light side.

- at the time of the release not much was known about the force, so it was conceivable that a extreme force sensitive could use the force to communicate with Leia in that way

They destroyed the senate and republic in TFA with starkiller, and took over rule of the galaxy in between TFA ending and TLJ beginning. It is explained in the opening crawl.

- it doesn't make sense because then why didn't palpatine superman himself when chucked down a shaft by Vader? Or mace windu?

There was gravity acting on both those characters. There was none acting on Leia.

But if you want to talk logic, how jedis apply any of their powers never makes any sense. Why doesn't Vader simply force choke Luke at the very beginning of all of their confrontations? His plan in Empire was to incapacitate Luke and freeze him in carbonite, yet he for some reason forgets this skill he seems to reserve only for his own officers.

- don't get the woman comment

a 3 foot crippled elf of unknown lineage is perfectly believable as the most powerful jedi in the galaxy.

Rey is a total f**king Mary Sue though for having abilities, and she damned well better be a Skywalker or Kenobi, else its just plain unbelievable.

- he taps into the dark side to defeat Vader and catches him off guard with his equal natural power of force, which is a far quicker path to power than the light side.

So kinda like how we found out that Rey has the strongest natural power of the force ever seen, and is able to tap into the dark side very easily?

- at the time of the release not much was known about the force, so it was conceivable that a extreme force sensitive could use the force to communicate with Leia in that way

Not much has ever been known about the force even after 40 some years of movies (outside of Lucas's garbage "its bacteria" f**king garbage). In fact TLJ does easily the best job of explaining how the force works of any of the movies to date during Luke and Rey's scenes

Is someone seriously comparing TLJ to TESB.

At least TESB had characters which were likeable and the Empire were far more formidable than The First Order. When Poe was jerking off the First Order officer at the start I thought I was watching Space Balls. It was positively cringeworthy. Unlike the original trilogy, I see nothing sinister in the First Order. They're almost like comic sidekicks.

And someone should tell the director the ' I told you to put more than 5 bucks worth in' is in a parody.

which is what this turned out to be.

That was just stretching out the purposeless subplots of giving Finn something to do and getting to know the Chinese lady (I don't want to) while saving the animals (this isn't star trek) and the non-mutiny.

And how did Phasma get to be like some hotshit officer. She's positively useless. "Ooooohhh but I have lovely shiny armour". That character needs to grow some balls.

You know I liked Star Trek for its commentary on cultural issues. So yeah I could understand the need for minorities in that show and the various preachy episodes and movies.

Star Wars though is purely action fodder about good and bad. It is illogical trying to turn Star Wars into Star Trek.

Btw I loved those big AT-AT walkers in TESB.

But after seeing them in the last 3 movies (with minor changes to get me to buy the merchandise) enough's enough. And don't treat me like a fool by literally telling me the WHITE planet on TLJ was made of salt ('look it's made of salt') as opposed to the OTHER WHITE planet made of snow.
