State of Origin 2K19 Discussion

He’s playing State of Origin and he has 70 FG games under his belt. Experience is more relevant than age.

If you haven’t worked out your attacking game after 75 games of high level footy, when will you? Come on, this is denial.
The truth is somewhere in the middle like with most things.
The awful attacking coaches he's played under are also something that needs to be taken into account

I think there’s a lot of panthers fans in denial about Cleary’s limitations.

The guy is being paid big bucks, it’s not enough just to try hard, he needs to be creating points, he needs to be kicking 40/20’s.

He has things he can do but doesn't. Have to find out whether that's coaching or him.

He can kick 40/20s and also good attacking kicks.

.

Says who?

If you think you can just disregard age you are being ridiculous.

You are the one who hasn't worked out his attacking game, not Nathan. You keep commentating like you think he should be out there playing like Munster or something, he has never been that player, he wasn't picked to play that way. He did nothing wrong last night stop death riding him.

Says history.

Go back and look at other halves and what they’ve achieved in their 3rd or 4th seasons.

Mitchell Pearce also debuted young, in his 4th season he had 18 try assists. He was 21/22 then.

He’s being coached not to kick 40/20’s? Why, to what end?

His short kicking game is rubbish. He often kicks his grabbers straight into the legs of the opposition.

In his fourth season he was playing in a grand final team. NSW also got towelled up with Mitchel playing that year.

Why did you cherry pick my comment?

I said the question is whether that is something with him or his coaching. It needs to be addressed either way.

Can we compare to Cooper Cronk, who by all accounts wasn't even a half till mid 20's, and look what he achieved and learnt at 'X' age and 'X' games...

Someone who debuts at 24. Can't be treated sameway as Munster or someone else that has achieved by the same age

A coach can only do so much though. A good player can adapt as the game unfolds. He has yet to show he can do that. Still time that said

Freddy is actually a pretty good attacking coach though. Has good 9 and 1 in Origin. Hasn't looked bad but still same holes in his game you see each week

We do know he's not an eye's up instinctive player. Gus has been saying it since he debuted.

He'd have the best kicking game in the comp though with the correct training drills.

Kick 500 40/20s

Kick 500 attacking kicks inside opposition 20m.

Kick 500 attacking kicks to corners from midfield.

This should be a weekly requirement.

Kick 500 attacking licks inside opposition 20m.

This should be a weekly requirement.
And he'll do the work. The merkin puts in that can't ever be questioned

Hasn't Gus and everyone said how hard he works? So he probably does that already just doesn't now how to use them in game situations

Improvement is the thing with Nathan.

He has gone backwards since his first 20 games. He isn't getting better.

That is the biggest concern.

Yeah I'm not convinced on their training. I think there's a handful of coaches in the NRL that would have him come good.
