The problems in the red zone have been there a few years now. I believe at its heart is our predilection for strong powerful backs, whom generally speaking, make many metres but can't run out of sight on a dark night. Whare, slow. DWZ slower, Mansour even slower, Blake can be quick if he can be arsed and isn't injured (he also needs the ball, refer Cleary's "vision"). Couple our carthorses with Cleary's lack of vision and you have a pedestrian attack, livened only when Maloney took charge when Cleary was injured and when Moylan was in form and Bryce was, well "Bryce".
Of course having a coach who has form as a terrible attacking coach, MX's expose on Dave's mates attacking stats as a coach are damning and Hook's bash and barge coaching and we have team that's slow, lacks flair and has been coached to be drones for the last five years.
Our strong forward pack has ket us in the semi's for the last three years, so it ain't all bad, but we won't turn this around over night. We need pace in the backs, so long DWZ and thanks for all your metres and so long Whare, thanks for your tackles and flair at fullback, hooker or 5/8th, preferably in all three. A decent attacking coach would then be the cherry on top.
