State of Origin is irrelevant

Left behind where? Nobody cared about the Anzac test. Nobody will give a f**k about the world cup. Instead, Origin is all anyone can talk about today and we're about 6 hours away from kick off and this time tomorrow we'll be talking about massive Origin ratings

Stay jealous that an interstate Australian match is bigger than the international scene, you'll fit in with the Kiwis.

A pointless distraction from club footy.

Tonight, I'll be watching paint dry.

Kiwi? Pom?

Yeah I'm aware of that. It's very disappointing that 3 exhibition games a year can completely mess up weeks/months of the club competition. Sure it brings in good money, but it affects the standard of the comp very negatively. I wanna see the best players and best teams play to the best of their ability every weekend, not distracted by these games.

In an era when there's more and more players in the NRL who are not eligible for Origin, I think it's run its course.

What does origin and the world cup have in common? Only two teams can win it, the champions and Australia.

Zing!!

Saying it's 'irrelevant' is such hyperbole I'm just going to assume you're trolling.

Write to the commission and let them know how you feel.

So which statement do you actually believe?

Both are correct. The standard of the comp is affected. Not only with so many great players out, but also with these half-arsed rounds that are a snoozefest because it's all about the build-up to Origin.
And yeah, all the Kiwis, Poms, Pacific Islanders and hopefully Victorians, there's more and more of them. The NRL has outgrown State of Origin.

Origin is a social event. People who never watch a game of footy otherwise get into it. As do businesses, who see the potential to make a quick buck.

Look, after the humiliation of the last 7 years, a part of me wants the OP and my fellow Dragons fans who agree with him to be correct. I want Origin to go away so I don't have to listen to Queenslanders gloating and pretending they're a better class of person because of the result of a football game. I can also do without the nerves and absolute dread I feel just before kickoff.

Most of me, however, decides to wear my Blues jerseys all year round, and looks forward to being able to return serve with interest whenever we do finally crack the Queensland dominance. As passionate as I am about the Red V, my passion for the Sky Blue just about matches it. Origin isn't just a money spinner, it's a fantastic contest between 2 teams of stars unbound by the salary cap. It's also a modern embodiment of the rivalry between states that goes back to when they were colonies. It is the best our game has to offer.

TL; DR version: the OP is dead wrong. Go the Blues!!!

The OP was an idiot but this reply is equally idiotic. Neither are irrelevant. Literally millions of people disagree with you
