Jurbo would be a backward change - he's off the pace big time in 2022 and wouldnt make a difference to NSW momentum.
Yeo comes on 5-10 mins earlier and NSW force golden point - I can handle Yeo getting a break but he was off for far too long and when he came on - NSW looked more direct and gained the upper hand.
RCG isnt cut out for origin, Paulo keeps his spot, overplayed his hand with his offloads, he is very difficult to tackle with his body, just needs to run off the back fence each hit up.
Ola'koatu and Koloamatangi should be pushing for selection, Matterson was solid, wouldnt be again him keeping his bench spot, but Sims looked out of his depth and should only be recalled if all over the above mentioned are unable to play.
Luai was very impressive at times last night, hoping he can bring that form to Penrith, but Cleary needs a kick up the backside, he copped immense kick pressure but some of his kicks were just atrocious and his goal kick has been a let down compared to 2020/2021.
Dont know if Api would go better than Cook currently (1st half yes) but Cook did have spark late in the game, as well as some terrible decision making. He does work well with Murray is has to be said so i could handle Cook keeping his spot.
Can Latrell play right centre? Wighton was very good and repaid the faith from Freddy, if he can play like that in Game 2, with NSW expected to perform better, we should force a game 3 at Suncorp
Martin will be chopped I think. Frizell will have his spot if not someone else.
Better for us anyway.
Crichton atleast will go. It was a poor selection
I don't give the slightest of shits about the result, nor if various Panthers played well/poorly. The Space Cadet selected a typically trippy team and there's no reason to expect our boys to look like the same players they do in our well oiled machine.
He was too clever.
In respect of the non Penrith fans they seem to be taking great delight in dishing out criticism for some of our representatives including Luai. In a difficult game, Jerome had a hand in both our tries and pulled off a great try saving tackle half way thru the second half, which he doesn’t seem to have received any credit for. I thought Brian To’o had a really solid game, no real opportunities in attack but his work under the high ball and bringing the ball back was very good.
Poor Freddy got himself absorbed in a game of 4D Chess that didn't exist.
He played To'o and Tupou on different sides than they play for their clubs.
He ignored the Cleary, Martin, Crichton, To'o right hand side of the Panthers - selecting Critta off the bench, and having Martin play prop for most of the night (and To'o on the left).
And despite having Yeo, Cleary and Luai all in the team, he completely disregarded how they play for the Panthers. Yeo was down around 8-9 touches last night, and Luai was up around 20 touches.
Throw in some shocking service by Cook, and other strange bench rotations and apparently it's all the Panthers boys fault.
I'm like you, don't really care who wins, as long as the Panthers come through unscathed. But the narrative is hilarious. They'll come back into our team, and normal transmission will resume.
Did anyone see his try saving tackle or I am mistaking him for someone else.Luai was pretty good had 2 try assists.
The issue was the lack of go forward. Lack of game plan so many times both halves were looking for options
We’ve got salary cap woes, goes without saying, but surely the Broncos have issues in the foreseeable future with Selwyn Cobbo, Patrick Carrigan and a host of others.
Carrigan is something special, is only going to get better.
If the Broncos can keep the nucleus of there current side together they are going to be serious contenders in the seasons ahead.
Bit like Kikau I guess. Forget SOO for a moment Haas is a freak at club level. Call him a workhorse if you choose but he is one of the best front rowers in the game. I would be doing everything in my power if I am Ben Ikin to keep him just like we should of done with Viliame Kikau. I understand the sticking point was not the money involved but the length of the deal. In hindsight I think we should have given him a four year deal. They can free up $800k by offloading Haas. Would go a long way to keeping them.
I know Haas is a workhorse, but I've seen the Broncos play enough footy without him to know that their other middles always step up when required.
Great to start with the disclaimer.I’m not particularly passionate about SOO although wanted the Blues to win.
As I said previously I have no issues with Queensland winning, take nothing away from them. But the game turned on some big moments which basically all went the way of the Maroons.
The Maroons line speed was incredible and Munster was huge for them .
With some good fortune, a little bit of luck the Blue’s could have come away win the win and perhaps the narrative may not quite be so negative.
Obviously, Freddie will have to make one or two changes but I don’t think wholesale changes are required. This is a pretty decent Queensland side.
