Personally, i think he sh*ts all over Brad Clyde. In other words, he is the greatest lock ive ever seen. Now i know how good Johnny Raper was, but even he, i bet, would bow to how truly great Steve Menzies truly is. He is a true legend, a loyal legend. You have to respect that, and just watch while he keeps getting better, at even age 33. Well done Beaver  ... Please go one more year

Menzies has played in the second row for most of his career, and you're spouting some sh*t about how he's the greatest LOCK ever. Sit down lil one.

No because you said he's the greatest lock of all time, but he's played the majority of his career in the 2nd row.

You tool OVP. You're creaming your pants after Menzies scores two tries in the centres off Jamie Lyon, and you set up a rant about how he's a better lock than Johnny Raper. Do you ever come back and look at some of these posts and wonder what you were on at the time?

Menzies is a solid first grader though, I'll give him that!

A solid first grader is what you call Tongue or G Stewart etc not Menzies who has played at the top for 13 seasons with 15 or so games for the blues plus however many test for his country.

Is he better than Clyde? I cant comment as I am bias and as such would not trade him for any backrower.

I think the Beaver is as good as any lock/backrower I have seen.

His attack/defense combo is superb, and you can play him in the backline without any loss of standard.

Never dirty, can barely remember him even giving away a penalty.

I have him right up there with blokes like Price,Junior,Clyde,Kennedy and he could possibly be the best of the bunch.......his stats are phenominal.

One of the greats of the game and also a great clubman......as you can see I am a huge fan.

He got into rep sides because early in his career he scored tries off the back of the likes of Cliff Lyons and wearing a Manly jumper practically guaranteed you selection anyway. Since then he's demonstrated that he doesn't f**k up in rep games so he's always been a safe selection. There are 10 guys in the NRL that do the job that Menzies does for Manly but the difference is they haven't been hanging around for 14 years.

They haven't scored 160 tries either. For someone who's been around for so long he had a great game last night. Two tries and some punishing defence. He's going great.

Hah! You're a goose, azktaro.
Maybe, but if Menzies is so legendary when has he ever been in the running for anything, eg Clive Churchill medal, Dally M, Golden Boot, RLW player award etc? He is a solid first grader, solid rep benchie and nothing more. Yes he's played 20 origin games for NSW but 14 of those were off the bench, and 5 of the 6 games in which he started were in 1995 and 1997 when no Superleague players were eligible.
