Storm salary cap scandal thread

these betting agencies must know more than we all do

To suspend betting, or have the storm at 6/1 for the spoon tells me that we are looking at more than just 8 points!

There are teams in the Top 8 on 6 pts, so losing only 8pts wouldnt make you all of sudden a chance at the spoon - especially as its Melbourne.

If it is serious though, the fact they found it early shouldnt discount the severity of the penalty. They should go into the negative!

Is this News LTD penalising News LTD over a shonky deal that involved News LTD?

The sooner News LTd f**ks off the better.

I said in another thread - you can now get them at 6/1 on betfair, and it was low as 3.05 at one point.

Something's up.

I hate when this sort of sh*t happens. It casts a shadow over the whole season.

Just ask Roosters fans. They still cop sh*t about their last title because it was the year the Dogs breached the cap. In effect, the title becomes a claytons title because the so called "best team in the comp" was not around to contest the outcome.

It also casts doubt over last years title as well.

If this happens, and they only lose 8 points, they will still make the 8 comfortably, with 8th currently on 6 points. Melbourne will comfortably catch up 3 wins on those teams in 20 weeks.

loss of points, and i would imagine they would have to cut players straight away to keep playing this year.
knights should be getting Lima in the next few weeks.

In theory yes. But what kind of mental effect would losing points have on the team? Even if its only 8 points the team still had to work damn hard for those four wins. If the players become disgruntled it could show by their on field performance and they could very well miss the 8.

If the Storm did end up losing some points how would this affect there crowds at the new stadium? would fans still show up and support them even if they were no chance of making the finals(depending on how many points they lost)?

Who cares? If they cheated they cheated.

They'll get off lightly though.

If it's a BIG breach, they should lose more than the 8 that they've got. They should go to negative points.

Like the guy above said

NRL, Foxtel, Storm = newsltd. Seems silly to fine themselves.

Wait until an outcome though. Plenty of agencies suspend betting when anything happens to cover themselves. If Thurston snaps a fingernail they suspend betting.

Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath for any huge penalty. It MIGHT be substantially enough to keep them out of the top eight, but I greatly doubt it.

A hell of a lot of comment based on speculation in this thread. I hate the Storm as much as anyone, but shouldn't we be waiting until we know a bit more before we start prejudging on conflicts of interests and slap-on-the-wrist penalties and the like?

This is a good point. Until we know what any allegations may be and/if there are any penalties, we are doing nothing but speculating.

 @ Brutus though. Quality posting

That's water off a ducks back to be perfectly honest. The Dogs would of never had that team if they hadn't cheated so it wasn't an even playing field to begin with.

Same may now apply to Melbourne (if anything is proved of course) and whoever wins it this year.

No.

We should all start charging around calling the Storm and News a big bunch of frauds and baying for blood.

Some how, we need to work Gallop and Finch into this as well so we can solve all the games problems in one go.

I'll go get the pitchfork and start working on the mob. Who's with me?

If the bulldogs had not been caught that would've been a real undeserved premiership. Winning via massive cheating.

Not to mention the fact that the Chooks were playing very well at that point in time, IMO they would've beaten the Bulldogs anyway, with Fittler firing the way he was.
