so theyre taking 8 points now?

theyve had..4 wins.

so thats 8. so then their at the bottom at round 7 but the sharks only have a win? 2 points against 0 with 1 team way better than the other.

they wont get the spoon

I'm not sure about the penalty for it.

The NRL has to have a punishment that is proportional to how big the breach is and the punishments they dished out to the Warriors and Bulldogs.

But they will have conciderations with the Storm - they probably don't want to hurt the clubs brand too much, concidering it may be sold in the near future, and its in a fragile marketplace. We don't want to alienate fans with the Rebels setting up shop.

I'd guess that they will be (proportionally depending on how bad the breach is) stripped of less points than the Bulldogs were, but fined much more. That's probably better for the NRL too... they could use the dosh, and it pays in TV terms to have the Storm do okay (but not necissarily win the comp).

So if its as bad as the Dogs, I'd guess stripped of 12ish points so they have a fighting chance of comming back, and a bigger $1m fine.

Is this News LTD penalising News LTD over a shonky deal that involved News LTD?

The sooner News LTd f**ks off the better.

HAHA. Then News Ltd (Storm) will be paying News Ltd (NRL)

Dear News Ltd,

Please see check attached for $500,000 for breaching the Salary Cap.

Sincerly.

Genius, let us keep the points but fine us $80 million.

I hate when this sort of sh*t happens. It casts a shadow over the whole season.

Just ask Roosters fans. They still cop sh*t about their last title because it was the year the Dogs breached the cap. In effect, the title becomes a claytons title because the so called "best team in the comp" was not around to contest the outcome.

It also casts doubt over last years title as well.

That's bullsh*t. The dogs were not the best team in the competition.

If they stayed under the salary cap they would never have been in the position they were.

They breached the cap by somewhere near $1 million. That's 3 marquee players.

Not quite... I don't think money from a fine would find its way back to News other than the $6m they take each year normally.

Any money would be great... the NRL needs it at the moment.

Ahh thats right.

Can bet or Lay.

If I had an account I'd still be offering decent odds on the Storm to Win the Spoon. Would attract a heap of suckers.

I totally agree. 1 million dollars could probably buy us Dragons another 3 or 4 Brett Morris' (not sure how much Brett is on tbh though). Now anyone who says that is fair and the Bulldogs were still the best team are an idiot.

Fine Melbourne 300k for each team they have beaten this year and give each club they have beaten this year that money.

News Ltd (NRL) will fine the Storm.
News Ltd (NRL) will pay the fine as the Storms owners.
News Ltd (NRL) will then repay the Storm their fine thru another grant.
It is quite a little circle isn't it!
The other clubs must be thrilled with that arrangement!

yeah well..

the dogs were over a million. they were also involved with all sorts or crookedness in the oasis project.

if its on the same scale money wise....its what round 7 now.

they have 8 points. i would fine em 20. so theyre -12 going into the weekend.

2 byes takes it to -8.

realistically it should keep em out of the finals.

This reminds me of Kent Brockman talking about the FCC and Fox.

Fox deliberately runs shows that will attract huge fines, which are then funneled through the FCC to the Republican Party.......

According to internal documents obtained from Canterbury Leagues Club, which recorded a turnover of $60 million last financial year, the Bulldogs breached the salary cap by $750,000 in 2001, had budgeted to exceed it by $889,456 this season and were planning to overspend by a further $459,500 next season.
