Storm salary cap scandal thread

No.

We should all start charging around calling the Storm and News a big bunch of frauds and baying for blood.

Some how, we need to work Gallop and Finch into this as well so we can solve all the games problems in one go.

I'll go get the pitchfork and start working on the mob. Who's with me?

That's water off a ducks back to be perfectly honest. The Dogs would of never had that team if they hadn't cheated so it wasn't an even playing field to begin with.

Same may now apply to Melbourne (if anything is proved of course) and whoever wins it this year.

Yep, best two teams playing within the rules in 2002 were Easts & NZ. Simple.

loss of points, and i would imagine they would have to cut players straight away to keep playing this year.
knights should be getting Lima in the next few weeks.

Not sure about that.

Isnt the whole argument over the Storm including some things this year that that massive flog Schubert says should be in last years cap.

I don't understand how a Fox Sports deal with Cam Smith can be independant in any event?

Whether or not it's brokered by the Storm, surely there's sufficient connection between Melbourne Storm and Fox Sports for the deal to fall foul of the rules.

It would be like Russell Crowe claiming to have no connection if the production company behind Robin Hood decided to throw a third party sponsorship at David Taylor.

If the bulldogs had not been caught that would've been a real undeserved premiership. Winning via massive cheating.

Not to mention the fact that the Chooks were playing very well at that point in time, IMO they would've beaten the Bulldogs anyway, with Fittler firing the way he was.

If Melbourne are proved to have been cheating the cap, the same could be said about their win last year. Of course, it will be a massive discussion topic at some point, depending on how this all unfolds.

If this is found to be true and the same applied to last year as well, I'd be pissed if I were a Parra fan and I'd also be pissed if I were a Tigers fan as they finished 9th.

Parra will essentially have been robbed of a premiership if this story pans out.

Not as straight forward as that. There were teams that Melbourne defeated on their run in, that they wouldn't have if not for the alleged breaches.

It changes the scope of not only the whole final season, but the season itself.

Can Roosters fans be pissed too? They might have missed the spoon.

If they did lose the proposed 8 points, I'd be more interested in the betting market for them making the 8.

And I'd feel sorry for whatever top 4 team faces them first week of the finals.

Whats the usual cut off for 8th spot? 28-30 points

2 points for each bye would need them to go on a run of 12-13 wins to make the 8?

I hate when this sort of sh*t happens. It casts a shadow over the whole season.

Just ask Roosters fans. They still cop sh*t about their last title because it was the year the Dogs breached the cap. In effect, the title becomes a claytons title because the so called "best team in the comp" was not around to contest the outcome.

It also casts doubt over last years title as well.

yep

because A - dogs are at the top

and B

johns dosnt get kneed in the back by bailey.

i doubt they make the grand final given those circumstances. a fin johns has newcastle in the grand final

That was a good point about the new stadium by HayneTrain. The NRL may go soft on the Storm for a number of reasons, but primary among them would be that they don't want to white-ant the team just as they move into Swan St.

Waldron should be part of this story too, he was in charge when it happened.
