P.S. And with reports from Hadley now suggesting their breaches go back years .... all their previous achievements are now moot as well.

What a joke ......... if true, how the f**k can the NRL miss salary cap cheating for 3 or 4 years?

TBH how could anyone be surprised that their salary cap isn't 1million over the mark?

Slater 350k+ minimum
Smith 450k+ minimum
Inglis 400k+ minimum
Cronk 300k+ minimum
Hoffman 275k+ minimum
Lima 250k+ minimum
Blair 225k+ minimum
White 250k+ minimum

They are obviously guesstimates, but with a squad as good as theirs, it had to be.

All this time we just thought players went there for half the money because they could walk down the street without being recognised .... :)

That said, let's wait until the 4pm press conference before we form any real opinions rather than just haphazard guesses like mine above.

Already noticed that the betting agencies who have kept markets opened have taken enough money on the wooden spoon that in just one day, the Dragons have blown out from $201 to $401 ..... I've never seen longer odds for wooden spoon betting this early in the season!!

Easily solved - take Carl Webb from the Cowboys and promise to play him for the full 80 minutes of every remaining game. That would be roundly appoved as counting as MINUS $800,000 towards their salary cap.

Those clubs still have to earn their place in the finals. and it is unfair on sides that have already played the storm

Yes but in that situation you'd give the 2 points to the 4 clubs that have lost to them so far this year.

If its as big as the dogs, they are fked.

I wonder if we will see melbourne lose one of their star spine players, Slater, Cronk, Smith...
i wouldn't use the words spine and slater in the same sentence.

Bloody stupid that the best indicator that something is wrong is the betting markets. A proactive step would be to advise the bookies to suspend the markets and make an announcement.

Today we saw the betting sting, the markets suspended and then a reactive leak & press conference.

Maybe we should strip QLD of Origin wins also, since some of them Storm players may not have stayed in league had they not breached the cap.

Those figures add up to $2.5 million for 8 players meaning $1.7 million for the other 17 players in the squad. Considering those names include:

Finch, Tolman, Quinn, Lowrie, Hinchcliffe, Nielsen, Proctor, Norrie, Luke MacDougall, Tandy, Kostjasyn, Bromwich, Cahill, Manu, and Isa

I don't find it unfathomable that those players would be on an an average of $100,000 a year each.

Let's see what David gallop has to say though

When it's the club that lives on handouts from the others why would they care? It's like play money.

I think... retroactively awarding a premiership is iffy...

It'd be a bit hollow, wouldn't it? Are we going to give Parra their two byes over the next fortnight to celebrate :p

I think we'll see point losses and fines but that's all.

I hope that it's nothing, which it won't be. It's not like the Storm went out and STOLE a bunch of other players to go over the salary cup.

It's not their fault their home grown talent (or at least talent they identified earlier than other first grade clubs) is that good. It's a bit of a joke.

I feel really sorry for them if this goes too far.

it's hardly a shock, the warriors only got slammed because a new administration within the warriors discovered the prior admins had been rorting the cap and the new guys went to the nrl to admit it.
