11,000 in Hobart is comparable to 40,000 or more hear in Sydney.

I thought the game may struggle to get 3 or 4,000. Congrats to the people down there who did all the hard work.

The crowd was amazing and could have been bigger if we had done a few things differently.

Support was about 70/30 for the Storm. The Broncos support was loud and very surprising.

The Storm were brilliant ambassadors for the game all week.

I got very pissed and I am now just recovering from a 3am finish, and $700 richer from a visit to the Casino afterwards.

And it was my birthday yesterday.

Cannot ask for more than that!
Well deserved..

It was bloody hard work, but the North Hobart Football Club were brilliant. Defence Force Recruiting were partners in the venture and would be very happy with the response they got.

Successful day all round.

HUNGOVER!

Storm should embrace Tasmania and the NRL should support them in that pursuit.

Yep, it was a fantastic crowd yesterday, a great day for rugby league. It would be beyond stupid for the Storm to not try and build on the success of this event. One game a year would become a great annual event down there, well done to EB and all involved.

Well done elbusto. What an incredible effort in achieving a successful day yesterday. I guess the locals are starved of top grade football judging by the pictures. All the best for the future. Let me know when you come to Brisbane and I'll shout you a beer.

11k is really good. Consider that there were 7k at campbelltown for the tigpies and a similar number at blacktown for 3 clubs, one of which claims to be the biggest in Australia. Eye opening.

Hard work and building partnerships to CO-EXIST with other codes will always win people over and produce results like this.

Did North Hobart make much money out of the venture?

They needed 8000 to make a buck I think. As such yes! All the corporate boxes were sold out. The wet area was absolutely packed so they made a shit load on the piss. And they had 210 the day before for a corporate lunch.

Match report TRL

The Northern Cowboys have pulled off a miraculous comeback to defeat the Southern Rabbitohs in the Grand Final of the Tasmanian Rugby League played at North Hobart yesterday.

Down 20 to 4 early in the second half, the Cowboys piled on 6 unanswered tries in a powerhouse demonstration of Rugby League.

The Rabbitohs looked unstoppable in the first half with the Papera brothers, Josh and Aaron, both crossing the line building on the momentum of the powerhouse Rabbitohs pack.

But poor discipline let them down in the second half and the Cowboys responded with front row forward and man of the match Tommy Dare blitzing the flailing Rabbitohs.

The Cowboys fitness was the key with AFL converts Geoff Croswell and Chase Scott having fine games in front of the big North Hobart crowd.

Cowboys coach, Jason Baihn also had a huge game ably supported by Wally Dare.

In the end the Rabbitohs simply ran out of puff and Vice Captain Willy Campbell was disappointed his Team lost its discipline on the biggest day in Tasmanian Rugby League history.

Mate it was a fantastic bloody day. Slater had a try disallowed (incorrectly) doing a State of Origin kick through and recovery that left the crowd breathless.

Amazing crowd ... I thought they'd be lucky to get half that. My experience when visiting Tasmania has always suggested zero interest in rugby league (in Launceston anyway which is where all the Tasmanians I know come from).

Well done to the organisers and to all the people who turned up for the game.

That's a fantastic crowd for Hobart, congratulations to all. On the back of this they should have an annual trial game and 1 or 2 NRL games a year there now.

When you consider that Melbourne vs Adelaide trial in 1998 (which was a very low-key affair) got only 2,395 it should what a bit of promotion and profile of the teams would do.
