Sucked in Italy...

You're blaming him for doing his job as a defender? Good one. Instead of blaming him, why don't you blame the Italians for diving?

You've obviously never played football before, you numpty.

Golden rule of defending #1: NEVER go to ground in the box.

Lucas Neill made a stupid decision, and it is his fault. Its done, build a bridge and get over it, FFS.

Not the first time Lucas has looked like an idiot - see the Germany game for a good example of how to NOT play the offside trap. The only good thing he did was wave his arms about like a flapping spastic to the linesman everytime he embarassingly kept a German onside. He is a liability, and he was a liability against Italy in 2006.

You've either got an Italian background, of stone the crows, here comes the Tigers fans attacking the Bulldogs fans Farah >>> Ennis style. What have you got against me wanting certain teams to lose? You obviously want the Bulldogs lose against the Tigers don't you? This is the World Cup, people love to hate and love to love certain teams, and that's never going to change. Deal with it ;-)

I do have an Italian background.

And wanting other teams to lose so badly is absolutely hilarious. Here's a tip chump: when Italy gets knocked out of this WC, it will not take away the WC they won in 2006.

Buffon has a back injury. May be fit for NZ game, but I think he will be rested and be ready for the last group game against Slovakia.

Italy aren't a great side in 2010. If they make the semi-finals, they will have overachieved. IMO they will get done in the quarters, however it would not surprise me in the slightest to see them in the last four, simply because everyone writes them off. More so, it would be hilarious as people like you squirm in disgust.

You're Italian - makes a lot of sense now ;-) - of course you'll go for Italy over Australia like all the other ones on Norton street. Regardless of what Lucas Neill did, he DID NOT do the wrong thing, and this was acknowledged as the official conceded he made the wrong decision in that game. Italy = divers.

Then you had players insulting other players families - calling them terrorists and what have you. Real good sportsmanship shown there ay. France did not ave their best player on the field as a result of that (face, someone else probably would've started a punchup as opposed to a headbutt. Italy may have won the WC in 2006, but I believe that it's more a case of France losing it.

Italy = soccer scumbags. That's my opinion, and it ain't changing. You don't like me, that's your opinion, and that ain't changing either ;-)

Actually, the further Italy go in this competition, the harder the landing when they get knocked out, so I'll be pleased when they get eliminated. Hell, even if that means losing in the final, then so be it.

I went for Australia over Italy, and I have never been to Norton Street to watch an Italian game.

Yes he did, he is a spastic and he should have stayed on his feet. You've clearly got no idea about soccer.

Poor Zinedine, couldn't take a bit of sledging. The same Zinedine that was sent off seven times in his French career for headbutting and stomping amongst other things. Yeah, very good sportsmanship.

Fair enough, even the clueness new dawners are entitled to their opinion, as idiotic as it is.

If that helps you sleep at night.

I cant believe how Lucas has gotten so much support since 2006. He basically cost Australia the game...yet is seen as some hero.

BF I am of italian heritage also and to be honest i dont really care for soccer apart from the world cup. I didnt care who won that game, but when Italy did win i knew that they had a better chance than Australia to go all the way.

Lucas Neill had three good matches in that 2006 tournament. His ego then inflated so highly that he actually believed that he was off to Barcelona or Liverpool, but ended up at West Ham.

Since then he has morphed back into the bog average player he was before the 2006 World Cup. And in the two major tournaments since 06 (Asian Cup 2007 and now WC 2010) he has been an utter embarrassment. He is also not fit to be a captain, and has a sh*t attitude.

Australia played against 10 men in that Italy game, and did not even look like coming close to scoring a goal. The game could have gone on for five hours and they would not have scored.

And as much as people like BF would refuse to admit it, if the roles were reversed and an Italian defender went to ground in the box like that (no chance, but hypothetical), you can put your house on it that any Australian player would have gone to ground. Anyone who doesn't think so is kidding themselves. It was a very harsh penalty, but you just can't put yourself in that situation.

I just do not like Serena as she is a sore loser.

Behold, the most accurate summary of that game that has ever been written.

The same argument could be said for Italy. Australia didn't score in the game, and, well, apart from the penalty that's very questionable, Italy didn't score either.

Hybrid, it goes both ways, you're saying the Lucas Neill shouldn't have gone to ground, but, does that automatically make it a penalty? Did he actually cause a foul? Or was it a bad read by the ref?

Why all the Italian hate? Italy brought the world some dam fine pasta dishes. And pizza. Pizza for pete's sake. How could anyone hate Italy or Italian football for that matter?

I do not hate Italy (I've been there), I do not hate Italian people, I do not hate Italian food. I simply hate 1 thing about Italy - Australian people with an Italian background who barrack for Italy (even if it's against Australia, the country that they were born and raised in). Face it, if these people have relatives in Italy, those relatives would consider them Australian, not Italian.

Bit like people who were born, raised and live in NSW cheering for QLD, which I see as being worse!

If you have Italian heritage, then why shouldnt you cheer for Italy providing they're not playing Australia.

C'mon Aussie and Forza Italia!!

Exactly right. I have no problem with them cheering for Italy, but why not go for Australia more so? Look at me, I'm going for Spain, BUT, I'm going for Australia first. Never mind my signature or avatar, I'm simply putting that up there because I believe that Spain will go further then Australia (as would any other unbiased fan), but if there was a game on between Spain and Australia, I would be cheering the aussies all the way!

Who the f*ck are you to tell them who to support?
If they're proud of their heritage, let them support Italy.

Where the hell is the "Sucked In Spain..." thread.
