14 teams and smaller then the NRL in crowds and tv viewing yet it starts before the australian comp and finishes after it.
Why.

Because you guys are lucky, quit complaining.
I would love to see the ESL run for 8 months and that includes internationals and WCC,then it gives you 4 months of looking forward to the next season.
Don't want an overkill like Soccer and Rugby Union.

2 months without EPL is unbearable. :D It should be year round, continuous.

I love my football, but that 2 months of no EPL is desperately needed.

7 days a week between EPL, Europa, Champions League, League Cup, FA Cup, Johnstons Paint, Championship even League One (sh*t i think league two and even blue sqaure premier get a run occasionaly) on SKY... Add Spanish, Italian Leagues, Plus Bundesliga and the others on ESPN i find it all gets a bit much... Especially seeing as SKY pretty much focuses on Chel$ki, Arsenal, Scouser Red and Manure.

All good from afar in Aus where you get a decent coverage of other sports... But between all forms of media, you cannot avoid it, and it has drained my like of the game a bit.

Disagree. If soccer is your favourite sport, then the blanket coverage in England would be bliss. I get insanely agitated when there is an international break. There isn't enough EPL for my liking. Luckily they have international tournaments every 2 years that fill in the gap.

Have you ever been to England, or lived there for any considerable length of time? Believe me, the blanket coverage is far from bliss. I don't know anyone who is actually a fan of the game of soccer in the same way that a lot of people are fans of Rugby League - almost everyone watches occasional big games as neutrals but really the majority are just fans of clubs and that's it, more for the passion of supporting a club than the actual sport.

I agree, the support for all sport is very tribal. People are fans of football though, and will watch other matches, just not get as involved.

As for the coverage, if your team wins then its bliss!!

A problem this year is the big kick off is clashing with the six nations so there is practically zero coverage in the media.

I like the times though, it starts when the football is beginning to kick into top gear so the focus is there but doesn't end till october when nothing else really happens so through the year i have something to watch!! :D

You've got it right Evil Homer...

I am a huge Fulham FC fan, I aim to watch every game (which is very hard being a Fulham fan, you have to resort to some 'illegal means' most games) attend the cottage on a very consistant basis including cup and europa games.

I also know plenty of other fans who will agree with me, it makes it even worse watching the same 4 teams get the media coverage all the time.

Come live here VFC, but then again never having lived here I am sure you will claim some link to one of the B4 'till you die'. I'm sure even you will get sick of the 24 hours a day coverage on SKY Sports News, Print media, and multitude of games on every day. I just crave some sport alternatives, someting which Australia has btwn the 4 footballs, cricket, horse racing, motorsport, tennis season, golf season and other major sporting events.

Damn I was glad to get to the stoop (and sell the Villa tickets) last week for a change... Didnt matter which game I went to, both teams played like crap.

I hate Sky Sports News with it's OTT live or death coverage of Football, esp on a saturday afternoon when some people in the Pub would rather watch ex hasbeen Footballers talking about all the games going on for 5 hours then a live Rugby/League match.

I'm insanely envious of you guys being able to watch Soccer Saturday at reasonable hours. Last week instead of streaming games, I streamed Soccer Saturday. Possibly the greatest show ever.

To answer your question, I haven't lived in England, but I've lived in a country where soccer is number 1 by some margin - and where the entire nations focus is on 2 clubs. I loved it.

Although I'm not too sure what you meant by "actually a fan of the game of soccer". If they're watching it, they must be fans. Just because they don't choose to watch midtable teams doesn't mean they're not fans of the sport. If you follow a club, you might be watching up to 60 games over the course of the season. How much more time can you devote to other teams? On top of that, a large number of the games start at the same time - unlike in Australia when at most you get 2 games being played at the same time during any week.

I mainly watch the team I support, and big match ups (like this weekends Arsenal vs Chelsea, Spurs vs Villa, Liverpool vs Everton - Ill probably end up watching all on top of the club Im a fan of). Outside of that, I download Match of the Day to get a grasp of whats happening in the rest of the league. I dont watch too many games as a neutral with Australian leagues either.

Depends on the individual I guess.

Summer Rugby? Did anybody see the Snow on the pitch the first match of the Super League season. Coming from Wigan and being a football fan rather than rugby fan I definately would not mind if they moved the Super League schedule.
This may benefit viewing figures aswell. At the moment the Super League begins at the business end of the football season.
