By middle ground I mean acknowledging it's ultimately the player's fault for being a complete f**king moron, that is obvious and anyone who denies this is just being dishonest. Still, it's a sorry state of affairs when a guy drinking his own piss is copping more than an alleged rapist and the media is more concerned about the former than the latter. I think you'd be naive to say the media don't play a major part too. Two wrongs don't make a right, so to speak.

I think the alleged part is pretty crucial there. Innocence before proven guilty and all that.

Ashton is hard done by. He's never been the same since Clint Newton annihilated his face, but I've never thought of him as a bad player personally. I would have had him at Parra. Probably still would, although now we're going ok so he might not crack the side....

You're smarter than this post. You know there are limits to how much the media can push a story that is being dealt with by the courts. The fact that it is a serious criminal matter means they can't go to town the way they can with a dickhead drinking piss.

Andrew Johns and co's defence that he's a too good a footy player to never play again just don't get it. The nrl just got a billion dollar broadcasting deal. Like it or not it's a brand and every player club and official is a representative of that brand. I can assure you if I was on social media pissing in my mouth my company would promptly sack me. I get that Lui is still playing and quite frankly he should have been banned too.

I don't give a shit about AFL and if they choose to have teams full of criminals. I care about our game and quite frankly our game will be a better one without Todd and his antics.
