Who knows...

On your bro - he's 16 mate. He doesn't know what he's doing, except he sees you having the time of your life and is trying to emulate the same pattern for his own benefit. While I don't think moving out with the stoners is exactly what I'd say he needs to do, a dose of reality will see him emerge from the shadow to the self, and in time he'll work it out.

Best to be there for him, love him by being honest and caring, and remember he's looking to you even when you don't realise it. :)

My 16 year old brother is doing my head in. He aspires to be me to the point that he started a blog named after mine, chooses his classes based on what I did, and used to say he wanted to work in retail just like me.

That's all very sweet, but he isn't willing to do the work to get there. He's talking about quitting school, moving out with his stoner friends, and basically being a deadshit. Can't talk sense to him, can't even talk to him without him getting pouty.

So frustrating.

I'm trying to be, especially since he looks up to me. I snapped at him tonight and it looked like I'd punched him in the gut. Felt awful, even though it was coming from a place of concern.

I don't want him throwing his life away. He's a pretty talented kid, but if he moves out of home I can't see him going to school and that's going to put a real dampener on his plans to travel the world as a writer/teacher.

It's like he sees where I'm at now, but can't understand that I had to endure some boring shit to get there.

If nothing else, China always make a guy feel wanted. 4-5 offers in the last 24 hours.

just make sure it's really a chick on the other end mate.. too many times those 'ladies' who contact you looking for marriage are really just dudes fishing for money...

interestingly the main reason for why the bolded bit happens is words 2,3 & 4 of your post..

teenagers are typically moody.. hell, looking back i was a jerk at that age (well, a different knid of jerk to the one i am now..)

question being - did you live out of home with mates at the same age? is this just another part of following in your footsteps?

McKinnon wanting to take legal action for what happened to him is frustrating. This quote is equally annoying:

Questions will be asked if the NRL should have taken a more concerted effort to crack down on lifting tackles, like they have done since McKinnon's injury.

That's like suggesting 'Has the government done enough to stop crime?'

First post since becoming a dad.

I'm told it's May already.

How did that happen?

I've got to say, I agree. I feel for McKinnon, but I also think that plenty was done to help him and it comes across as completely disrespectful and ungrateful that he'd now go ahead and sue for something that was always a risk in a full contact sport.

Sounds to be like a greedy attorney has been in his ear.
