I feel a bit out of the loop... don't know half the bands on there and didn't really go through that teenage nu-metal/rap phase. Who should I give a listen to on that list to get ready for the day? I'm interested in bands like Coheed, Karnivool, Protest the Hero. Any suggestions?

Probably Lamb Of God, Trivium, Devin Townsend Project, Mastodon, Meshuggah, Gojira, Circa Survive and maybe Chimaira.

You might like Enter Shikari and Thursday as well but I wouldn't put money on it lol. I'm a huge PTH fan myself.

Yeah BLKOUT's list is pretty good there.

I'd pay attention to most of those bands - particularly Devin Townsend - as well as Machine Head, Dillinger Escape Plan and for something a little different try Dragonforce.

I saw Lostprophets at BDO '04 and they were awesome. They're on my "like to see" list but if they clash with a "must see" band I'll give them a miss.

Alter Bridge are on my "must see" list. Nothing will stop me from seeing them. All up I've counted 17 bands I'd like to see on the day, deciding who's going to make the final cut will be painful once the timetables are out. Some hard decisions will have to be made.

That's the problem with Soundwave no crap pop. There's bound to be clashes. Manson's set in 99 BDO has to be 1 of best I have seen so he's a must see. I was in the Limp pit when the chick died and never seen the whole thing. Even for nostaga they are a must see. So them with AB & Lostprophets are the only set in stone

I loved Lost Prophets but gave up on them after the album that followed start something. Would be worth checking out all the same.

The betrayal is just as good as start something. The new album due out about Soundwave is mean't be even better. I heard a few songs from uk gigs on you tube despite not being the best quality seem reasonable. I am expecting them to be mid arvo on a smaller stage so they shouldn't clash

IMO they really need to cut down on the amount of bands they have playing, massive kudos to the event organizers in being able to get so many quality bands for 2012, but when there are so many they ain't gonna be able to play for that long, who wants to see only 40 mins of Chimaira??? Because that's what's gonna happen.

The betrayal isn't even remotely close to being as good as start something IMO. It's an ok album, but Start Something will still make my playlist semi-frequently, the Betrayal I got sick of after about 4 or 5 listens. I'll go check them out for the nostalgia if it doesn't clash with anything, saw them at the BDO in 04 and they went off.

The headliners are awful but there is a fair bit of quality after that.

As is slipknot

I saw them both on bdo 2005 and absolutly loved them

See, I believe Slipknot are an embarrassment to 'metal'. Awful band. Limp Bizkit, well, the less said about them the better. SOAD - I can live with them but they don't excite me (although the title track on Toxicity is a kick-ass song).

Those bands are all teen rubbish. But as I said, some great bands just a touch further down the bill.

Everyone on my facebook is going nuts over this line-up.

The only ones that interest me are SOAD, Dillinger escape plan, Machine head and Mastodon.

Slipknot have sucked forever, but they suck even more now since Corey lost his voice for quite a while in around 06-07. The guy can't hold a note.

lostprophets I wouldn't mind seeing, but I won't miss another band to check em out. Start Something is a great album, everything else of theirs is pretty ordinary.

Lamb of god, Mastodon, SOAD, Machine Head, Devin Townsend, Black Label Society, Unwritten Law, Dragonforce, Chimaira, Meshuggah and Steel Panther are on my list of really want to sees, Manson out of interest as well even though I'm not a fan of his music.
