Derpy Tallis going at lengths to defend himself for his interview with Thurston.
"Those questions were always going to be asked. I was giving him the heads up, rather then him getting those questions from some nobody in the press conference."
Arrogance to go with the baiting. What an absolute merkin of a person.

Oh well that makes it ok then

Having watched the game again, and the no-try at the end numerous times, I can't see how anybody but a Roosters fan could argue it was the correct decision.

I have nothing against the Roosters as a team (heck, half the forum assume I'm a Roosters fan I defend some of their players that much), albeit I was rooting for the Cowboys to win the comp, but I think certainly in that last 5 minutes if you're looking at it objectively, from the SBW fumble onwards, the Cowboys were royally shafted. I honestly believe that. And I've seen the same shit dished up against the Warriors enough times.

I appreciate that both teams were exhausted, but what was telling to me was that there was little to no objection from the Roosters players who watched the play unfold. In fact their first reaction was to practically unanimously drop to their knees and hold their heads in their hands in despair. None of them pressured the ref as you would expect. For me that says a lot.

You would never hear the end of it if NSW lost to QLD on such a call. And I have serious doubts that if roles were reversed and the Roosters scored a try under the same circumstances that they would be denied.

My condolences to the Cowboys faithful.

Massoe, Did you notice that the linesman signalled the nock on? The Roosters players may have stopped or dropped off the play because of it. Anyhow, it was a knock on for all money.

It's funny how you say you look at it with objectivity but only from the Sonny drop ball onwards. Is your objectivity lost in the final ten of the first half. Mini taken out in mid air, the blatant forward pass, all led to N Qld tries, yadda, yadda.

Sh1t way to go out but they weren't shafted, just unlucky.

Seems to be a knock-on by the slightest of margins (probably a little less than indicated in the image). If the ref had ruled try you would have to give it as benefit of the doubt nonetheless as there is enough doubt in there. Actually that is probably what the video ref did - decided that it wasn't conclusive that the ball had gone backwards, which is correct, there is no way that you could conclusively say it went backwards.

It's a 50/50 call, no way is it the basis of a conspiracy theory.

The big question should be why did the no. 2 pass it? Should have gone for a quick play the ball and probably could have got a penalty or a real good crack at the line with 4 tackles left.

"Some nobody" describes Tallis perfectly as a commentator and media personality

Tallis was a disgrace on that show last night. His objectivity was clouded by his obvious hate for the roosters. Liked how Hindy and Fletch flat out disagreed with him but would have loved Fletch to defend them more. In particular the high hit on Sonny has been totally overlooked as it would have given us a 2 point lead before the whole possible shepherd thing happened.

Also had to laugh when Tallis said to Fletch "you would be going for Souths being an old Souths man". FMD Tallis do you even know he only went to Souths to collect his retirement fund.

big hit!

That picture is BS. Unless you have a camera in line with the play at the 28m mark, footage will never be able to conclusively and accurately give the correct call in that scenario. It's practically a similar situation to a forward pass.

You need a camera at every 1m interval, or a rolling camera along the length of the field which continuously keeps up with play to get an accurate call. After all, that's why forward passes can't be ruled on a replay. The camera is fixed at the halfway line and cannot give accurate rulings on passes at any other part of the field other than on the half way line. That Lui play was a fluid play where the ball went sideways rather than forward at part of the ground where there wasn't a camera immediately side on.

The rules and officiating department of the NRL are morons.

Just to be a smart arse, according to LU 12 months ago, any errors by refs that don't happen in the last 2 mins don't matter, as you still have a chance to get back in the match.

For mine the call wasn't that controversial, it was 50/50 for mine. I tell you what when you watch the replay again, if it got awarded there would have been a MASSIVE controversy about a Rooster player (I think Pearce or Maloney) being obstructed by the Referee. The "knock on" wouldn't have even been talked about.

The ball landed in front of where it hit luis arm, it was a knock on every day of the week.

They lost the game when lui switched the play back to Thurston and Thurston put in a shit grubber instead of
a - a good grubber getting a repeat set and
b - a field goal

also there kicking in the second half was diabolical at times and that was mostly Thurston.

I think it was Mini but yes you are right the media would ahve beat that up instead of the knock on. I don't think mini would have got there but the ref was clearly in his way.

He actually said that? What a merkin. What an absolute merkin as you've rightfully said.

He didn't really ask any questions for a start - they were more leading statements from memory.

And a 'nobody'? f**k me. A nobody with more integrity.

At least be a man and admit you tried to get JT to cough something up. I'd have no issue with that. But to lie, and say it's a head-up so he doesn't have to face 'nobodies'...what a c**k.

Tallis officially now the lowest-lying belly in league.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. I was surprised when I heard so many comments raving post-match about Thurston's performance. He was barely visible in the first half and fluffed several kicks towards the end that gave the Roosters good field possession.

I can only assume 9 gave him the MOTM just so they could have another crack at interviewing him. No way was he the best player on the field.

That is 3 finals in a row that the Roosters have won and not received the Man of the Match award. Pretty safe to say something that has not happened previously in the history of major sporting competitions.

3 finals in a row that Roosters have won. What are they exactly? Who did they play?

If I remember correctly 3 finals wins ago you beat Newcastle 40-14 in prelim. Would have got man of the match in that flogging.

You must mean the GF and last weeks WHICH IS 2!:D Lol uneducated Chooks fans.

Must be getting your facts mixed up due to stress about the way you guys are playing leading into Friday!

It's what happens when you win so many finals matches. You can count your finals wins for the past 30 years on one hand.

No. While a knock on is a knock on, a football can travel forward a little bit or a lot, making the knock on slight or massive or something in between. Murder involves someone dying, and you can't die a little bit. You just die.
