Just saw on Fox and it was definitely a knock on.

The difference in commentary is quite funny. Brandy said "definitely a knock on", followed up by Warren Smith supporting with "absolutely".

Compared to channel nine commentators all cursing the decision. I would pay double the Foxtel subscription not to have to listen to those clueless channel nine dickheads.

I am not sure it went forward or back. I think it went in line with Lui, or very close to it. If you drop the ball straight down it's a knock on. I was hoping the Cowboys would beat the Roosters, but I can't say it went back off Lui.

I'm of the view that it went back and then bounced forward. Lui's body was facing towards his own goal line. As far as I'm aware, unless you bat the ball back over your head, you can't knock the ball on when your facing your own in goal line.

I hate the Roosters and wanted the Cowboys to win.

However the Cowboys did not deserve to win this game after their defensive crap that allowed Roosters to get to 30 nil.

Good comeback , however all the luck required to go Cowboys to win from 30 nil. They got an unlucky call with the SBW knock on , however the Lui knock on decision was marginal i.e. could have gone either way.

I wouldn't be taking much notice of those two. Warren Smith and Greg Alexander, while good commentators, have the worst vision out of anyone in the NRL media. I've lost count of the amount of things that Greg Alexander in particular, seems to see that no one else does; its like he is watching another game to the rest of us.

Well in this situation, the rest of us seem to be watching the same game as Greg Alexander, as the poll says Lui knocked on.

But please tell us more about your fantasy world.

Fox sports commentators have declared last knock on 100 percent correct. That won't stop the conspiracy calls though. Btw, if there was a conspiracy to let the roosters win, why let the cowboys come from 30 nil down to lose to a field goal? Throw everyone off the scent maybe? Lol.
The conspiracy theory nonsense is just Johnathon Thurston letting off steam because he's frustrated. Without doubt the Cowboys have copped some seriously harsh calls in the finals series of the last few years but its more down to bad luck. Why on earth would anyone in the NRL hierarchy not want a Queensland team to win the comp; its a good thing for rugby league to have teams outside Sydney winning the comp!

So what about the Roosters defensive crap to blow a 30 nil lead? No mention of that? The cowboys scored their 30 points faster than the roosters scored theirs. Why is one worse than the other? In fact I'd say making a comeback from that far down is far more impressive than getting out to a lead and switching off.

And you're right, the Lui call could have gone either way, it all comes down to what Shane Hayne sends upstairs as his opinion, but the SBW penalty was just plain disgraceful and that's the one that hurts the most for me. I thought Lui knocked it back and it rolled forward or at worst it went sideways but once it was sent up as a no try it was never getting overturned.

Cause you scored off a forward pass and a dubious penalty you fool

Anyone thinking JT cost the Cowboys the game is the king of delusion. He was the one that dragged them off the canvas and was making SBW look second rate in defense all half. No other player could have got their team from 30-0 down against the best team in the comp. Not Hayne, not Cam Smith.

Cowboys are devastated and they deserve to feel that way. Not because they were robbed but because they came so close only to lose.

What's with the touchie getting involved to make a decision, against the cows too coincidently?

They usually just stand mute clutching their flags, but one decides to get involved in a major final as they should in every other game of the season.

This league is being ruined by bad officiating and the BS referrals of every try and the slow down to 10000000000000000000000000000 frames per second to find a finger nail touching the ball, or the slightest of slips unnoticeable by the naked eye or even in normal slow motion. Yet they let shit like clear obstructions go, or make drop ball decisions based on the player involved.

And the NRL are wondering why fans are turning off or crowds aren't increasing.

And that knock on call was always going against the cows once it was called a no try on field. Camera is not in the right position to make a correct decision. Not unlike why forward passes can't be ruled by video.

People are focusing on the SBW penalty.

But the Cowboys had an equally appalling one, AND the most blatant forward pass ever, leading up to one of their tries.

And then the next try, Mini is taken in a blatant mid air tackle.

These two shocking sequences got the Cowboys back into the game. And yet people will conveniently overlook them. Amazing.

We got some lucky calls at the end. The SKD shepherd being the main one. But holy f**k we were due after the shit that dragged the Cowboys back into it.

Thats fine! Everyone is entitled to their view. Look at the image applesauce uploaded. Its pretty clear illustration that the ball went back. In any case, you don't need that image to come to that conclusion. Lui's body was facing his own in goal line, the ball traveled backwards, it was not a knock on. I didn't watch fox sports' coverage but I'd love to know how Greg Alexander justified the incident as a knock on? This incident aside, Greg Alexander constantly sees things differently to reality and blows up about it in commentary about it. Great player and great analyser but he has problems with his vision.

It was a knock on, I hate bad officiating as much as the next fan but half the problem is the media and fans trying to turn a good call into a bad call, the refs can't win.

Cowboys know they have to be better than that.

Unfortunately you concede 30 points and your always going to need luck to win a game.

Was a classic semi. Unfortunately I won't watch it again as it will just Shit me.

I was cheering for the Cowboys as much as the next bloke, but it was clearly forward off Lui anyone who said it wasn't is either biased or a complete imbecile (Wally Lewis gets a tick in both counts).

Cowboys second try came off the back of a massive forward pass and then also SBW dropped the ball cold before the field goal so if anything there was a 5 point bonus to the Cows.

You watch the media blow this up for all its worth saying how the Cows have been screwed three years in a row. They have nothing to be upset about apart from the fact that for the first 30 minutes they played like the under 11's Berala Bears
This.

I also thought the held up play for SBW was off a forward pass. So I agree the field goal never should have happened. The Cowboys try off a forward pass shouldn't have happened. And also Lui knocked it on. Look at the markers on the ground when you watch it. No question it goes forward.

I didn't think Mini being taken in the air was that bad a call. Your right it should have been a penalty but he wasn't blatantly taken out in the air. The forward pass in the lead up try to the cowboys try was a bad call but it was on the previous tackle. Its not as if it was in the tackle that resulted in the try. The SKD shepherd was way worse! I think what really cost the Cowboys was that try that Thurston bombed where he kicked ahead into the corner instead of passing to his inside man - Michael Morgan I think. In saying that, Michael Morgan ran a very obscure line which made it very tricky for Thurston to see him.

Did anyone else think that Sonny-Bill lost the ball in the process of trying to score that try?

I thought the Mini mid air tackle was touch and go, Mini didn't even blow up, he just had a go at his support. Morgan braced himself when he knew he wasn't going to get there and Mini made a similar collision with Morgan a few minutes later and there was no penalty so at least they were consistent.

Here is a shot of the superimposed frames of when the ball was first touched by Lui and when it first hit the ground .

A few things to note.
1. Ball touching Lui in the right side circle.
2. Ball touching ground left hand circle.
3. Yellow Line = parallel to 30m line (30m line not touched they are overplayed perfectly from both frames used).
4. Lui's body from the superimposed image has been removed in order to see the ball initially hit him.

2rfbm6p.jpg

50/50 call. Combined with the bullshit from the previously 10mins Cowboys have no luck against the refs.

Keep in mind, any of this stuff is prone to parallax error. It is never conclusive.

However, going off by your picture alone, it is a knock on.

The yellow line u drew parallel to Lui's back feet ? Lui's arm is way behind that yellow line given he reaches back to grab the ball. If this is correct, which it is as he does reach back to grab the ball, then it is indeed a knock on given the ball lands on the yellow line.

Arm/point of contact with ball is behind yellow line; ball lands on yellow line.

∴ Knock on.
