T-Rex facing 7-10 week suspension

I would have said DT's one last year was nastier than this one. He only got 5, so T-Rex should have got 4-5. 7-10 is ludicrous.

He should have stuck his knee out, could have made it a tilt-a-whirl back breaker.

Off Topic, are suplexes legal? I mean basic suplexes, flipped over and landing on their back? Never seen one and curious.

So long as they don't go past the horizontal I think they're fine. Everytime I watch the Sharks I see Ben Pomeroy suplexing motherf**kers left and right

Well the term consensus doesn't imply everyone agrees so good luck to you and your opinion.

Downgrade or not, he's out for a stint!

He deserves a long stint, be thankful De Gois landed on his back that De Gois has no control over, he lands on his neck he is paralysed. It is very serious, he is literally a few cm away from not walking again. Do I feel it is worth 10, no, but in the 5-7 week area is about right. So 5 weeks plus 2 as he is a repeat offender is fair enough.

There is also a responsibility on the tackled player to remain as upright as possible. And accept he's been got and is going to be dumped, instead of trying to put one's arms down to get to the floor ASAP. I think Hornby did this when Farah tackled him.

That is probably the stupidest thing I have ever read on this forum.

What are players meant to do before they get speared into the ground? I can imagine the though process "Hmm I have a pretty high chance of breaking my neck if I don't catch myself with my hand here, but southwalesrabbitoh thinks I have a responsibility to not protect myself so that the tackler doesn't get too high of a suspension for the dangerous tackle he is doing right now."

Seriously?

Louie, you've misunderstood me.

Read it again, flip!!!! No tackler is trying to spear someone, I have my doubts if anyone has ever intentionally done it. What I'm saying is that the tackled player has some responsibility to try and keep horizontal at worst. Obviously these things happen quickly and people can lose their balance, all I'm saying is that they should try their best not to lose their balance.

WTF? now it's the guy getting speared or thrown upside fault for attempting to protect himself?

Rule number 1of topsteedenball: if the apex gets spear tackled by the edge forward he has to lie in a comatose state or it's his fault for getting his neck snapped like a twig.

Uh... the laws of physics may work against them there (i'm really not sure how de Gois could've kept himself horizontal in that situation).

Some of you on here worry me a little, in that you're a bit effeminate. You don't have to play RLeague(Steeden), there are the girl's games of tennis, hockey, basketball etc. that you can go to.

I dont think DeGois had any control in that tackle, it was just too fast, but I see a lot of players duck their
heads whenever they are lifted, trying to get the penalty...Mick Crocker is probably the worst I've seen, so
there probably is some onus on the tackled player not to escalate the problem.

People seem to be forgetting that the suspension is as long as it is because of 40% loading. Without loading I think the suspension might have only been 4 weeks?

No, it would have been 7 (40% x 7 = 2.8, considering the 7 weeks would be 725 points or so that would bump it up to 10). 4 weeks does not become 10 with 40% loading.

The tackle was f**king awful and he is a repeated offender.

The penalty needs to be so severe that it changes his mindset when making tackles in future (as he clearly has scant regard for the safety of the ball carrier atm) and impacts on the club to a degree where it's in their best interest to try and train it from his game.

The suspension is good for RL.

The tackle was terible but I really can't see how this is any more dangerous than driving someone headfirst into the ground. Both can result in a broken neck yet when was the last time someone had a charge this severe for a spear tackle?
