Dont worry, I survived El Diablo's posting of a tin foil hat picture

Its no coincidence, IMO that the negative Tahu stories are from News. I mean, there was one the other day which was a nothing story, just some quotes from the father of the kid involved kicking the boot in. It wasnt news, it was just a cheap shot to fill space.

Tahi might not have handled things as best he can, but he is just a footy player who doesnt deserve the hammering he continually cops on here. This thread being a prime example. He is apparantley uncontracted, plays a charity game and is still the baddie. Go figure....

Exactly Fishy.
Still, the most disturbing thing is the influence such stories that lack facts have on people. Seriously, just the line used yesterday morning stating this .........

While the Eels were unwilling to wait any longer for a decision from Orford, as he strives to gain a release from Bradford, it is believed that instability at the Parramatta club over the past 18 months contributed to the 32-year-old's reluctance to sign on the dotted line.

It is believed???? WTF?????
No quote.
No evidence.
No proof.
No sources.

But there are some around here who jump on that "evidence", and I use that word lightly, to make almighty accusations.
No thought whatsoever that Orford might have been pushing us for a longer deal or more money or better conditions or whatever player managers might demand.
Let's just throw out an unsubstantiated claim as a reason for the breakdown of negotiations shall we?
And let's just run with it to bag out the club again.

FMD. I know who the stirrer's are on this site. And I know who the f**king dills are.

When has the Telegraph ever used those in the past?
Why would they suddenly use it now?

If people have issues with my dislike of Tahu, it's really misguided. The only major beef I have with him now is that he's skipped training at a time when we so crucially need to get the whole team back into their game.

All that racial, mental and whatever controversy mumbo jumbo is pretty irrelevant to me.

Roosters didn't go from wooden spooners to potential premiership winners by being too lenient on their players, neither did the dragons go from chokers to genuine trophy holders.

WAYWARD Parramatta centre Timana Tahu has been told to return to Sydney this week and hold urgent talks with new Eels coach Steve Kearney.

Club chief executive Paul Osborne had a one-hour meeting with Tahu on the NSW North Coast yesterday in an attempt to lure the troubled star back to training.

The Daily Telegraph revealed last week that Tahu had been granted leave from Parramatta training to confront and overcome some deep personal issues.

Tahu's wife Kasey said over the weekend that she hoped Parramatta would not push her husband back to training until after Christmas.

Yesterday's meeting with Osborne did not fix the issue, but it was the first step in having Tahu back men- tally and physically fit for next season.

There remain doubts over whether the NSW centre, who has been involved in two highly publicised racial disputes this year, will in fact play rugby league next season.

"I told him he had to sit down with the coach this week," Osborne said last night. "We had a good discussion and he has to come up with a plan that works for the club and works for him.

"Ultimately, he needs to work with the coaching staff.

"We're very conscious of the year Timana has had. He is a good fellow and we want to help and support him.

"But we also have a season to prepare for. We have a new coach on board and new discipline in the place."

Asked when Tahu would return to training, Osborne said: "That is for him and the coach to work out."

Could Tahu's leave be extended beyond Christmas?

"I don't think that is going to happen," Osborne said.

Pressed on whether Tahu would be an Eel next season, Osborne said: "Yes. At this stage, yes."

Given their friendship, Osborne has supported Tahu.

Kearney may not be so patient. He has arrived at the club ready to stamp his authority and will no doubt want Tahu back to training soon.

Tahu was spotted late last week in the Newcastle area with two Knights players.

He has agreed to play with Parramatta next season but may be released by the club if he wants out.

Parramatta players are privately backing Tahu but still claim they want him back training with the rest of the squad through summer.

Tahu played a charity match over the weekend in Brisbane and confronted the man he allegedly racially abused, Caleb Binge.

If Tahu is shown the door, is there any real chance Kearney may chase Inglis? We have the money there and the way things are at the moment, I'd take Inglis over Tahu.

"Tahu was spotted late last week in the Newcastle area with two Knights players."

I had to laugh at this line. They just keep looking for a new angle.

I think the club has handled this as well as they can considering the media circus surrounding it. I must say I am not surprised by those quick to judge Tahu without having all the facts. The media is good at forming opinions in the minds of the mindless.
I hope whether he plays for us again or not that T works out what's best for him going forward. I just wish that during this process, we as supporters could support him instead of joining in on the media beat up currently taking place.

Well his attitude, specifically towards training, doesn't reflect his apparent 'going forward' mentality.
Had Ozzie never been blessed with a friendly relationship with Tahu I doubt he would've been as lenient to Tahu's skipping.
He was hardly in sparkling form, by his own standards, this year. Agreed none of the team was but they're all doing the hard slog in the off-season to make up for it as much as they can, Tahu hasn't and if he continues to skip, it's clearly something that will affect our performances on-field in the long term.

I just caught up on that thread .

It's probably the first time El D has seen that pic not directed to himself in a thread...

Tahu needs to meet the coach next week, what happens next should be down to them - not the Telegraph's agenda.

Tahu's complaint about DA was apparently about playing him when he was injured or something? So what good is forcing him back to training now if he still has concerns about healing? Doesn't Eric Grothe have a permanent "get out of training free" card for similar reasons?

He needs to communicate directly with Kearney, and agree a "return to work" plan. I don't give a stuff about when he returns, it's not as if the training before Christmas is anything more than physical conditioning, and even the Tele says that the players are privately backing Tahu....

Non-story, and imo nothing for fans to get worked up about.

we can bitch about the media making mountains out of mole hills, and yeah that is the way they work these days ..... but FMD Tahu is certainly giving them plenty to work with

Ossie's comments sound like a frustrated man to me .... tahu isn't doing himself any favours .... I am amazed the club had no knowledge of him going to play in this charity thing while they'd given him time off - he should have told them

I don't really care what spin the media put on it but I am annoyed that he was granted personal leave a week after the guys started back, and then he went and played in a charity match with the same crowd who caused the racial allegation scandal. Come on Timana, grow a brain FFS.

True. But if he really wants a contract he should be putting in the same work as the rest.

Hes taken the piss out of this club since Origin time.

I'm not bitching about the media doing what they do because I have learnt to come to expect it. What disappoints me are supporters acting in the same manner.

TIMANA TAHU'S situation at Parramatta will come to a head this week after the troubled star was told by Eels chief executive Paul Osborne he had to meet new coach Steve Kearney and plan his return to training.
The club was shocked to learn Tahu had played a charity touch football game in Brisbane on Saturday, after having been granted leave from training to deal with personal issues.
Tahu's involvement was revealed in The Sun-Herald yesterday, and in the story his wife, Kasey, was quoted as saying she hoped Parramatta would ''give him until after Christmas'' to return to training.
But after meeting Tahu yesterday, Osborne said: ''That's not going to happen. We're happy to give him a little bit of time but I told Timana he's got to sit down with Steve during the week and work through everything. They've got to come up with something that Steve's happy with.
''We're happy to help Timana through whatever he is going through but we've got a football team to prepare, and he needs to sit down with the coach and work out what the plan is going to be over the next few months.''
Tahu's dramas since returning to league from rugby union last season have been well documented. He was praised for his protest in quitting the NSW team over a racial vilification matter but was subsequently accused of racial vilification himself in a separate matter that remains unresolved.
''He's got some issues to sort out after what has been a very draining year for him,'' Osborne said. ''But he needs to realise that when something happens, and publicity comes with it, it's not just him it has an impact on. It has an impact on his teammates as well. It's a critical time for the club. We've gone in a new direction, with a new coach who is looking to instil a high level of discipline in the players.
''We won't be playing favourites. Timana's teammates are training very hard, and while everyone is sympathetic with someone who has to deal with problems - and none more sympathetic than me - he needs to sit down and talk to Steve and work out a solution leading into next season.''
While Osborne refused to comment, it is understood Tahu is receiving help to deal with the problems he is experiencing. That would explain why the club has given him a fair bit of latitude, when other players would have faced stricter policing by now.
Asked what he thought of Tahu playing in the charity match interstate after being excused from training, Osborne replied: ''I'm happy for anyone to do charity work but the timing is peculiar. It's a strange option to take, at this time.''
Kearney, who did not return the Herald's phone calls yesterday, is seeking total commitment from his players as he pushes them hard through the off-season, and obviously can't appear to be soft on an individual at the risk of losing the respect of others - regardless of how important that individual might be to the team.
Osborne said he believed Tahu would be playing for the club next season, despite the fact he hasn't signed a contract.
''We've agreed to terms,'' he said. ''I expect him to play for Parra. I believe he needs to play football next year, for his own good.''
Osborne confirmed that negotiations to sign former Manly halfback Matt Orford for next season had ended, and that Kearney would be choosing his halves pairing from players already on the club's books.

So the club didn't know he was playing. Weird.

This whole Tahu saga is weird.

I blame Rugby Union for messing his head up. :)

I think the club doesn't want the length of the contract, if we could front load then maybe but I think Souths will find the way to finally nail him down.
