On the 2ky sports show this morning they said that TT will not play again this year and may never play again. His ankle is just not healing.

What a loss to the game he would be.

Might explain why we bought Brown, Daniela, Tuqiri and McKinnon

So with the purchase of McKinnon, form improvement of Daniela and Lui, Ayshford yet to return...what happens with Moltzen?

Terrible but not unexpected news. Those of us that have been following the titbits of information concerning Tuiaki since his injury have become increasingly glum over any expectation he would

a/ return in 2010
b/ be capable of playing on the wing with the demands on his ankle
c/ have his contract renewed for 2011 onwards
d/ be able to play football at all.

Great tackle............. I know its not done intentionally but gee wizz I hope karma hits the bloke that tackled him at some stage in the future. Nothing career ending, just enough to allow him to think of being in Tuiaki's situation.

NRL salary cap will be increased by $4.8 million next season
By Phil Rothfield
May 30, 2010

In a huge victory for players, the NRL salary cap will be increased by $4.8 million across the 16 clubs next season, but it still won't allow Melbourne Storm to keep all their stars.
The Storm's current player roster is $850,000 over the cap this year, but a staggering $1.2 million for 2011.
In a major boost for players, each club will be allowed to spend an extra $300,000 next year as a result of the NRL’s recently negotiated $45 million contract over 10 years with the NSW Government to keep the grand final in Sydney.
NRL management has decided to give the clubs an extra $3.2 million ($200,000 each) in grants from the $4.5 million a year that will be coming from the Labor Government coffers.
On top of the grants, they will be allowed to spend an extra $100,000 on players.
NRL boss David Gallop will wait until after the upcoming chief executives meeting to confirm the biggest salary cap increase since the Super League war.
The game's hierarchy has been under huge pressure to increase player payments since the Storm salary cap rorting was exposed.
Gallop has personally met with more than a dozen of the game's biggest names in recent weeks to discuss salaries and ways to increase payments without putting struggling clubs in danger of collapse.
"We've always been willing to listen to the players and their concerns," Gallop said.
"At our last CEOs' meeting, we agreed the clubs would put some ideas and proposals together to improve the salary cap.
"That's our next step and obviously the money we are getting from the government deal to keep grand finals in Sydney will be part of our next lot of discussions."
But the Storm are still likely to have to offload one of their big four players, Cameron Smith, Billy Slater, Greg Inglis or Cooper Cronk, following revelations that their salary cap cheating only gets worse next season.
Salary cap auditor Ian Schubert and forensic accountants have discovered Storm officials were planning to spend $5.3 million next year.
The club has already off-loaded Aiden Tolman ($250,000) to the Bulldogs and Brett Finch ($150,000) is expected to announce he is leaving within days.
That leaves Storm with $4.9 million on their books for 2011 and means they will have to lose another $500,000 worth of players to get back to the increased $4.4 million salary cap.
Kiwi international Jeff Lima ($200,000) is also expected to leave.
A salary cap increase will put life back into a player market that has been slow because clubs have been waiting to see which Storm players will go onto the market and find out how much they will have to spend next year.
It will also help St George Illawarra in their bid to sign centre Mark Gasnier for a minimal amount this year and back-end the deal into the next two seasons.

With Tuiaki so doubtful for a successful return I reckon WT shoud make big effort to get Lima- we need props. Cayless & Tupou, recruited a bargain basement prop backups will never ever be what they once were.

If we can get Lima, then only 1 more required- goal kicker.

WTF?
You want the player who tackled Tuiaki legally where he was accidently hurt to be punished.
You are an idiot of the highest order, no make that goose!

Dummy Spit- from memory it was not a good tackle that nailed TNT, as I said it was not done intentionally but it was not a good tackle. All I meant was that I hope the bloke who did it learns from it. TNT will have the rest of his life to ponder- wonder about the bloke that did the tackle? OK- wishing him injury was not a good thought.

I think that ben smith is a dirty player and deserves to be put on the side lines. Since last year i have watched him carefully and to see him break nathan fiens ankle made me suspicious. Since then he has tackled anthony watmough in the manly game the same way where he got up hobling, and again against st george brett morris just the other day. The guy knows where a footballers weakest point on the boby is and targets it. Im sure theres others i've missed, someone needs to this dirty players head off!!!!

TUIAKI TAKES NEXT IMPORTANT STEP IN RECOVERY
By Wayne Cousins

1/06/2010 2:51:37 PM

In a positive sign for Wests Tigers, winger Taniela Tuiaki has been given the green light to take the next important step in his recovery.
Tuiaki will now start running without assistance as he attempts to overcome a shocking ankle injury.
The powerhouse winger has been sidelined since suffering the broken ankle in round 21 last year. He has been working very hard under the eye of Wests Tigers Rehabilitation Manager Andrew Leeds.
“Taniela was advised on Monday by the specialist to bump up the load of his running. We will see how he responds to that over the next month,’’ Leeds said.
“He has been running in a harness which is partial weight bearing. We are now going to see how he tolerates full weight bearing running.”
Leeds confirmed that a return date or round for Tuiaki remains indefinite.

Bouncer?

...the Parra player who tackled him (Hindmarsh? Reddy? can't recall...)...should be forever targeted above the shoulders by the Tigers...

Ben Smith; merkin did the same thing to Nathan Fien in rd1. Grub of the highest order.
