Tariq charged

To lose 2 games because of a good tackle that Tariq was committed to would be a disgrace. In this new age of NRL under Beattie and his kind, anything goes when it comes to appeasing the Qld media.

No it is just the NRL and its admin teams are a bunch of reactionary fools and can make no decision based on commonsense or on their own. It was done to silence Green as he is on the competition committee and of course the media ran with it straight after the game.
(another layer of no commensense and non arms length management having coaches assist in making decisions in the running of the game).
Who says the media dont run and infuence the outcome with this game.
Same with George Burgess..fool officials cant send him off cause they have been told not to...to not spoil the TV product of an even game with 13 on 13.

But the media have already influenced the grading and decision that he will get 10 weeks + and so he should....but where was the outrage from McGuires (not one) but 2 eye gouge indiscretions.

But I assume the judiciary panel In Tariq's case will hopefully (as long as Dragons will pay for a good lawyer) see and apply commonsense in real game speed time
He wont play for the Blues but hopefully for the Dragons this week

And it is just a coincidence that SGI players JDB and T Sims are the targets for setting policy. Our CEO should grow a set and rebuff the decision by defend Sims publicly.
For once Possm i agree with you (well the 2nd half of your comment anyway). We should be just as vocal..as Mary was in the presser..in the media to how ridiculous this overreactice charge is.
Wait there..are we allowed as a club to try and influence the outcome of the judiciary by speaking out.
Maybe not.......that is only allowed for some circles.

Ridiculous call to put in report, and we had better fight the charge!

Sims was committed... and needed to be in case Morgan throws a dummy.
Not late, not high, and he doesn’t carry on and try to bury Morgan. It was just a nice hard hit, a good hit... and yes unfortunate Morgan was injured, but it was completely legal...

if you can’t commit to a tackle in case a guy passes, the game is screwed.

Gee Wiz BLMO1, my feeling is that we have agreed on many things in the past and even when we disagree, I think you put your point well.

The fact is that we have management staff that are just not up to it and this is another of a long list of examples that show this. Give SGI a cleanout and all will be well again.

There was no swinging arm or intent by Sims to try to knock Morgans head off. It was just unlucky contact to the jaw, and that alone is enough to get certain players suspended.

Imagine if it was a fan favourite like Ponga putting the hit on Morgan.

Many?..some...more like it :p. But before you throw stones at this point at management lets see what they come up with for his defence and his team to fight this charge.

I agree with others that accidents can warrant a charge..but then that is based on careless, reckless etc
I believe in Tariq's case if you need to quote your shoulder struck him in the head / jaw on the basis of an illegal tackle, then OK..penalty (not forthcoming after a look at the game) or even a Grade 1 careless at low end incurs only a fine or not enough points for a 1 week suspension which I think is fair.
As you put in words Possm "Heaven Forbid" get Slaters defence team who can turn a shoulder charge into it being the ball carriers fault and nothing he could do different and while your at it get a character reference from Todd.

Put aside that I am a Dragons tragic.

I watched it again today. It looked as though Michael Morgan straightened just before the pass and Tariq reacted quickly thinking it may be a dummy. The 1st contact by Tariq is unremarkable around the upper body but spins Morgan slightly inwards to Tariq’s shoulder. Morgan’s head hits the shoulder as Tariq straightens in the tackle. I believe Morgan ( he is top class) was taking it to the defence line to draw Simms and open up the gap outside. Thurston to a tee.

At worst a touch late but even that a fine margin; OK could live with a grade 1 careless.

The point is that describing it as ‘reckless’ is simply wrong and suggests some serious backroom shenanigans.

I think there’s a lot of bad timing in this unfortunately for Tariq with the news coming out yesterday about concussion in the game.
Make mistake this decision is driven by this. Beattie & Greenburg are so reactionary their finger prints are all over this which imo is why he’s been hit with a grade 2 lol.
I said last night it was a good legal tackle which was looked at by the bunker who saw nothing in it. The NRL, if that is the case should get rid of the bunker as they seem to get a lot of things wrong.
If tariq played for Melbourne it would not be an issue

Like a few have said before what about McGuire this bloke has eye gauged twice this year and didn't cop 1 week. Now we have to clean it up why didn't he get a suspension the first time he offended. We can't punch cause little johnny's mum won't let him play but you could take his eye out to this weekend.
JUST SHOW CONSISTENCY YOU MUPPETS

The footage shown indicates Sims may have caught Morgan on the chin with his shoulder or upper arm, but its not really conclusive and looks a grade 1 at the very worst. Maybe they have another angle.
Yep they have another angle all right.
To come form behind and ram it up our arse as usual.
Whenever the NRL need to have a bit of punishment dished out St GI are always at the forefront and after we cop it everything goes back to business as usual.
If Sims is outed, the game is a complete joke and the quicker the NRL goes belly up the better.

On a different note, Maloney today performed “imo” what was a very ordinary looking chicken wing tackle & penalised for it but not placed on report, as well as elbow to the head of a player later but missed. I’ve not heard boo from any social media about it. Is this because he “needs” to play origin & it’ll be swept under the carpet.

St George Illawarra back-rower Tariq Sims will plead not guilty to his grade two dangerous contact – head/neck charge following the Dragons' 22-14 win over the North Queensland Cowboys on Friday night.

Sims was charged for his tackle on Cowboys skipper Michael Morgan early in the second half of the Dragons' victory.

Sims's hearing will take place at Rugby League Central on Tuesday evening.
