The 6th round of Tasmanian Rugby League was held at Rugby Park in Hobart.

The Tigers took on the Eastern Thunder and had a good 48-22 win. The Thunder played very well in the first half but ran out of players and puff in the second half allowing the Tigers to run in several late tries.

Best for the Tigers were Mamonu Nonu who had a huge game in the front row, Sunnia Ma'afu and Sidney Filea had their usual strong games and Perry Ferguson was dominant in the second row for the Tiges.

In the upset of the round, if not the season, the Broncos were gunned down by the Southern Rabbitohs 46-20. The Broncos were short some of their better players through injury, but the result was still unexpected.

Next week the Tigers play the Rabbitohs in the match of the round and the Broncos play the Thunder in a game that just might spring another surprise.

The ladder:

Broncos
Rabbitohs
Tigers
Thunder

Round 7 saw two epic games of Rugby League at Rugby Park. The Rabbitohs defeated the Tigers 30-26 and the Thunder got their first points of the year with a nail biting 34 all draw with the Broncos.

The Rabbitohs shot to a 20 -6 lead over the Tigers at half time before the Tigers came back in the second half only to fall short by 4 points.

But the big news of the day was the performance of the Thunder who finally chalked up some points by virtue of an amazing draw with the Broncos.

All 4 clubs get a well deserved break until the 10th of January.

The last 5 rounds will see all Teams at each others throats struggling for domination in the finals series.

On behalf of the Tasmanian Rugby League I wish you all a happy and safe Xmas.

Rugby League in Tassie

The re-establishment of Rugby League in Hobart saw ARL Development Wests Tigers Development Tony Ashton travel down for a weekend.
Leaving Sydney at 6.30am on Friday morning might have been an early start for some. But was necessary as Tony was heading to Lenah Valley Primary School to conduct coaching clinics for a lot of very excited students. Even though he clinics ending up in the hall due to the pouring rain the students thoroughly enjoy themselves and are now all massive Wests Tigers fans. Thank you to Mrs Kearney for organising the clinics.

Note the Rabbitohs and Broncos jumpers. The Blue Team are the Eastern Shore Thunder (as in Storm). The Quins jumpers were replaced by Balmain Ryde Eastwood jumpers and we are now the Hobart Tigers.
