If he has any Tongan or Samoan blood in him he may be able sneak in to the UK via Kolpak. I know Huddersfield have been looking for a five-eighth since Carney got barred

It will be interesting to see how Melbourne respond to this? I'm sure a big part of their plans this year were to have Taumata play 5/8 and shift Inglis back out to the centres.

5/8's don't generally just fall out of trees and I'm sure Inglis will have been training the entire pre-season at centre.

Does Inglis now go back to 5/8 or do they have a plan B?

Ill throw it out there, but if he's allowed back to the NRL... perhaps the storm will try and get Todd Carney with what ever cap space they have... Cronk at #7, Carney at #6 and Inglis back out to the centres... thats a very freightening prospect imo...

Possibly or they may run with #7 Maloney, #6 Cronk, #3 Inglis..... which was the idea in the first place apparently until they got Taumata. Helps with their goal kicking as well.

talk about not learning from your mistakes, what a plonker.

I wonder if the NRL will deregister him, he seems to deserve it more than some other people. Breaking peoples Jaws > Peeing on People.

I don't believe Cronk takes the line on enough to play 6. If they did that, they would essentially have two half backs and no 5/8 imo. To me, the big plus for the Storm in signing Taumata was that he would pin the ears back and take on the line, which is something that Cronk or Inglis don't do well or at least well enough. Inglis is a damaging ball runner out wide but in tight, he didn't have the number of options required to make him an elusive 5/8. Cronk has a super kicking game and a resonable passing game, (although the Storm backline could make my passing game look good) but a not so good running game imo. To put him at 5/8 and introduce another half would give them a stack of kicking options and good ball distribution, but they would need to rely on Cam Smith to make any sort of bust up the middle.

Probably not a big enough name to bother, no one is demanding it in think-of-the-children style moral outrage

He effectively plays at 5/8 anyway with Cam Smith running the show from dummy half. Wouldn't be that big a change I don't think.

Yeah, I was waiting for that to come up, and a good point too.

If the NRL DOESN'T deregister him, then the treatment of Carney and Bird is a sham - especially in the light of the Bronco high profilers who have been forgiven when Costigan and Seymour weren't. Not saying that cutie, Thaiday et al should be de-registered at all. But does the NRL only deregister bad boys of their original club doesn't want them lining up against them?

This is a test case for sonsistency. Four clubs in three seasons and a bit. Surely there is justification.

Don't know what he's done off the field, but on the field he's a cat. Any bloke who rips out the stitches of another player, and then as he does it costs his team the game is nutcase.

For the life of me I could never see the excitement supposedly in Taumata. On field he was extremely erratic and lacked some very basic skills. The time he kicked the ball backwards 25m goes down as one of the greatest 'how did he do that' moments in NRL history. His only redeeming skill it seemed was to back up an offload. Big-time myth that the NRL will not miss one bit.

This a bad situation for Storm and Bellamy will be spitting chips...

They now have to reassess all options and will probably have to start Inglis there..all set plays will need to be reviewed etc so this is an upset to the progress they would have made over the summer.

Bellamy could look at Maloney as well but he is more a halfback and is not proven at NRL level.

Do they look at Cam Smith at no 6 and Hinchcliffe at hooker ??...sounds crazy but a possibility ??.

Will this open the door for Crocker to sneak back in ??.

Either way - not a good situation for the club at all.

What a f**king idiot.

His career could be over at age 20. Some people get such opportunities and they f*ck it all up.
