Given this year is essentially a re-building year, I thought I may as well start this thread early.

1.
2.
3.Sione Matautia
4.
5.Aku Uate
6.Jarrod Mullen
7.Trent Hodkinson
8.Sam Mataora
9.Danny Levi
10.
11.
12.Tariq Sims
13.Korbin Sims

14.Tyler Randall
15.Pauli Pauli
16.
17.

Add Gagai to that 17 (either at fullback or centre) and I think those are the only players guaranteed a spot in the 17 given what we've seen this year. I think the players will their will have to start playing uncharacteristically to lose their spots.

If Stockwell continues to play how he did on the weekend he'll jag a spot too as will Rochow if he re-signs. Paea is close, but not quite in the same position as those named.

In a perfect world where we could sign anyone we want..... Who would be priority?

Lachlan coote comes to mind

Who else is off contract at the end of this year?

In a perfect world?

1.Lachlan Coote
2.Nathan Ross
3.Sione Mata'utia
4.Dane Gagai
5.Aku Uate
6.Jarrod Mullen
7.Trent Hodkinson
8.Sam Mataora
9.Danny Levi
10.David Klemmer
11.Mitch Barnett
12.Tariq Sims
13.Korbin Sims

14.Tyler Randall
15.Pauli Pauli
16.Daniel Saifit
17.Jacob Saifiti

There are caveats;

1. Gagai is not allowed to leave the weights room until he's put on 5kgs of lbm.
2. The Saifitis have a huge pre-season, again I'd like to see both of them spend time in the gym bulking up

3. We release Rochow, Snowden, McManus and Smith. Surely to f**k, we'd be able to afford Klemmer, Coote and Barnett then. McManus and Snowden alone are on SOO money for f**k's sake

Daniel is 117kg and Jacob is 111kg...and you want them bigger?

I've gotta say, that surprises me. I've seen them a fair bit in person and they really don't look that big. Just tall, fit looking guys. They esp look a bit lean in the legs.

Just checked....how the f**k is Daniel possibly heavier than Sam Burgess? Sam's 3cms taller as well. Apparently Daniel is the same height as George Burgess but 3kgs lighter... i can't believe that

We need 2 quality backs. Dont care where they fit. But 2 backs that would make any other NRL teams back line.

My preference would be a genuine fullback and a james macmanus mkII. Someone who will catch 99/100 bombs, not miss many tackles and is a good finisher. Doesnt need to be too flashy

I am happy with our forwards, our young pack can already play with the big boys so they will only get better.

So if our forwards keep improving and levi improves then backs is all we need.

Front row I'm happy with but I reckon we'll need an edge backrower. Rochow will probably go, I don't rate Fitzgibbon and Jacob Saifiti might be more useful in the middle imo.

Hopefully the Barnett rumour is true. Th guy is far too good for NSW Cup and would be a very handy pickup.

What do Knights fans think about Rochow? We are linked with him and I seem to be in the minority thinking he would be good in our strong pack.

Pros: mobile, decent footwork, decent speed for a second rower, good defender, can run good lines

Cons: rarely makes any impact on hit-ups, pretty weak for a forward, don't think I've ever seen him break out of a tackle, generally injury prone and has had a bad back since u/20's that might not ever get fully healthy

He Looks good playing for us.

But that is like saying the undigested corn in a piece of shit looks appetising.

"Rochow has made one dominant career in his entire life"

Wut?

Anyway, fwiw Rochow is a reliable defender. Doesnt hit all that hard but wont miss many.

His foot work is good for a forward

He's been well below his best this season but at his best he's a very good player great hold runner, good hands and a decent offload. I definitely wouldn't describe him as vanilla. Not a big hitter but very reliable as mentioned above.

There's truth to most of the above.

Reality is his asking price is way overs. He'll be elsewhere soon enough.

Agree with most points on Rochow as a solid and reliable player who isn't screaming game breaker (at present) - I do think there is more in his game that hasn't been developed yet and I think Brown is still developing him to his potential and that is an incremental process.

What I will say about Robbie that hasn't been mentioned yet is his motor - I think he will continue to be a more versatile player in the modern game of fewer interchanges because the balance of squads are going to become more reliant on players that can maintain a solid and high standard of performance through stamina over 80 minutes.

I think that is part of the value he does bring to a team...whether that means he is the right value to our squad and what that is worth in salary $$$ will be up to Brownie and management - but I’m comfortable with that based on what Brownie has done to date

We should just tell Rochow loyalty or money. That is it. If I were managing the situation it would be a reminder his form is crap and if he goes elsewhere He will be lucky to get a start in the 17 at a stronger club. Happy for him to go.
