On the MMM Monday podcast with Reidy and Gemma Laurence, Reidy said that Taylan May was found guilty of some crime and the NRL are to decide what suspension they will impose upon him. So might be picked on TLT but probs not play.
I wouldn’t imagine he will be punished. The charge wording of an assault occasioning bodily harm sounds nasty, but in reality, a bruise or scratch is bodily harm. I don’t think that the League should give any more pleasure to members of the public who act as pests, as is the case in this matter.
Given he was found guilty, but no conviction was recorded, you wouldn't think they will do much, and unlikely would involve any games.

There mustn't have been much in the incident to be honest.

For a team that seems to have been Bipolar all season, I hope this high continues. Thinking back to some games we should definitely not have lost (Tigers, Bulldogs), we really should have been sitting in second place this year.
The past doesn't matter, we are where we are and as long as we play our best for the next month, hopefully this long awaited drought will finally be over!
Also Cronulla we should of beaten.

FFS, how does that work?
If his crime deserves suspension, why are they letting it carry into next year?
Supports the theory that went around (was it Kenty) that said the MRC/NRL only cares about having everyone available for the semi's which is why NAS was only fined and not suspended.

PVL is turning out to be a real Mafia boss. This is dodgy tactics.

You can make a it an exciting finals but you're doing some very dodgy things in the process.

IIRC in racing, a jockey can get suspended but they don't miss a big race.

So it seems that PVL has waved his magic wand and said that the Pennys merkin need only miss two club games.

Clearly the outrage is all based on the communication of the policy. I would have thought that changes like this would normally be implemented from the start of a season.

Watch them find a way for him to serve his suspension during the All Stars game or a trial match.

f**ken dodgy merkin that PVL is. I never thought there would be someone worse than Greenberg, but here we are.

I don't think he should be suspended at all, nor pay a fine that that size. He must be on close to minimum so that's a fair chunk.
And if we're finally treating finals as more important than club games then good. Should've done it ages ago.

Yeah well when each team is treated fairly I will agree but until then... yeah, nah!

Yeah I don’t think by the sound of it a suspension is overly warranted. Perhaps a suspended fine as a warning to not be dumb again.
But the real issue is doing it on the eve of finals with no comms that it’s a policy that will be applied unilaterally, so the perception is NRL are benefitting one team. Would’ve thought they’d learned by now but here we are again

May was found guilty of assault occasioning bodily harm by Maroochydore Magistrates Court last week, after an incident on the Sunshine Coast in October.

CCTV footage that was presented to the court had shown May go up behind the man while he was talking with Nathan Cleary and Tyrone May.

He was then be seen grabbing the man by the collar of his shirt and pulling him to the ground.

Magistrate Matthew McLaughlin labelled May’s actions “reprehensible” and “cowardly” and ordered him to pay $1000 in compensation to the victim and a $1000 fine.

But instead of the suspension rubbing May out for the Panthers’ final push, it will start from 2023.

“In proposing the timing of the match suspension, the NRL considered a number of factors including when the incident took place, the date at which the proceedings were finalsied and the impact of a match suspension at this time of year,” a statement from the NRL reads.

“It is proposed the fine and education requirements be effective immediately.”

I reckon the NRL has given him an extra match but he will have to serve it next year as a compromise to playing finals.

Normal circumstances he would probably only get 1 week.

Is that all he did, grab the bloke by the collar and pull him to the ground, or was there more to it?

From what I understand that’s all he did.
It was unprovoked and the bloke was completely blindsided by it. Could have ended up a lot worse than it did, just like a coward punch. Lucky there was no real serious injury.
