Russell is currently scoring 3 tries per half this year in the NRL. If Jayden hadn't kneed him in the ribs I think we can safely assume he would have scored 54 tries by now.

I still think our hit ups starting sets are weak.

For me two option when all fit. Sivo and Waqa on wings with Opacic at centre.
Waqa at centre with Simmonson and Sivo on the wing..Unsure what Russels done to prove he is better then any. He has had half a game this season.

Some big units on the wing and we are laughing when it come to eating metres. Just hope we aren't crying in defence.

Glad Russell is in the squad of 24... Given there is no NSW Cup game to ease players returning from injury back to match fitness, we could even carry Russell and Parham in the 17 this week - they could sub each other during the match, so Russell gets to test himself out for 20mins either side of half time (without having to do the full 80mins).

BTW did anyone pick up that BA is playing EMU in longer stints in NSW cup ? Last week his first run was for 30 minutes. I expect that with origin 3 weeks or so away, Emu will be asked to really step up if we lose a middle or two.

Good pick up - and good planning by BA. I suspect we'll lose both Paulo and Campbell-Gillard during origin time (maybe RCG on the bench), and we'll be a bit less strong in the middle.

If so we'll be left with Greig, Matterson, Brown and Makatoa in the middle - lucky for us, I don't think Matterson will get a look in at rep level this year.

We can put Russell at 2 and JA at 14.

When Russell gets tired after 30 mins, JA comes in and we shift Brown to 4 and opa to the wing

If Matto keeps up his good form for the next 2-3 weeks I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the nsw squad off the bench. Can play middle or edge, they’ve lost Murray, sims, saifiti in poor form, and he’s been 18/19th man before so Freddy clearly likes him

I’m certain Paulo & RCG will be there.

Sivo if people remember correctly was getting massively dominated on his hitups and has a knack of turning his back. Plus turns like the titanic in defence.
Needs at least 2 games in Reserves before considering a 1st grade run.
Also coming back from an ACL can take some if not most 12 months after resuming playing to be at full pace..For now I think Russell would be a better option unless the coaching staff can see he is doing everything required and won't be a liability

We instantly became a better team when Sivo was injured last season, how does the slug just slide straight back in?? I’m shocked Russell wasn’t chosen he was only missing due to injury and has done nothing wrong in all his time in first grade.

Massively dominated? No. Worse he wou,d be stopped in his track. I never would see Sivo being driven back 5mtrs like Perham

Sivo biggest issue is apart from not being that quick, is the amount of times he has a great hit up but then plays the ball slow / tries to milk a penalty….he should just get a quick play the ball and nicely set up our second rucking our hit up….

Imagine a 1, 2 hit up, of him, quick play the ball for a Blake hit up (assuming they are on the same side or Pensini)….plenty of momentum for the rests of the set…

plus he can be a bit lazy at times and lacks some “smarts”….

He definitely improves our side but some small improvements would make him a lot better player…
