Knights have obviously got some excellent players but they’ve been ordinary recently. Just got home against the Dogs, ditto against the Titans and ordinary today.

They’ve won 3 games against current top 8 teams (Sharks twice and Manly) this year and have had a fairly soft draw (Dogs, Tigers, Titans, Broncos, Cowboys twice; Storm, Penrith, Parra, Manly once each).

Not that I’m ever super confident in any finals game though.

Why TF are we playing in Rocky when it’s our “home” final and our “home” base is Cbus?

why is the storm once again given a leg up, being the only team that gets to play their home final at their “home” ground that they are undefeated at and located just 5mins from where they are staying? Everyone else has to take a game day flight.

I think it is possible that South East Queensland will be in lockdown?

1 vs 4 - Sunshine Coast

5 v 8 and 2 v 3 - Townsville

6 vs 7 - Rockhampton

anything is possible these days. The NRL may have got an early tip off. Usually the sunny coast is included in SE Qld however but who knows..

Rugby is on the GC next sunday wallabies v Springbok.

Plus crowds have been rubbish in SE Qld since relocated.

I reckon they are better off taking them to regional towns where they sell them out at 7-8k at a regional town with better atmosphere then 7-8k in a souless robina.

And also covid as previous post suggested Brisbane and SE Qld could be in lockdown next week if that truckie has spread it

Not sure u can trust kafusi in the big games. Dropped balls and concussion has become his thing.

Kafusi bends the line and can offload.

Makatoa is a plodder with a big heart. I don't see him at nrl level
Agreed, people going overboard regarding Maka, he is honest and won’t let u down, but cannot be picked ahead of Kaufusi, regardless of his ordinary form of late

He’s been disappointing of late.

Assuming the start pack is

Rcg
Jnr
Matterson
Pappa
Brown

My bench would be

W.Smith
Lane
Marata
Cartwright

That gives us 3 forwards who can play edge on bench and two of them who can play middle. Papa and Matterson can also play both positions so don't feel like we need 4 x forwards.
Cartwright 2ould be handy if its close and we need a try. W.Smith cover the spine along with centre.

Stone would be my only other consideration based on defense.

I wonder if Ba is a little concerned if RCG is a little under done. May use him or matto off the bench.

What was the reasoning for changing the first week Finals match-ups?

The old system of 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, etc. was a great incentive for the top 4 teams - they had "easy" match-ups for finishing in the top 4.

This new system is just dumb - 1 vs 4 in week one?

A quality game, sure - but what incentive do you have, as a club, to finish 4th?

The old system was the McIntyre system. I personally loved it. But apparently there were limitations on which teams could make the gf off memory.

Win and have a week off.
Lose and play the side who finished 5th or 8th in your home region. So if it was Canberra who finished 4th and lost they play in Canberra.

1st vs 8th is pointless. I think parra beating Saints is only time 8th has won.
I much prefer the new system. Top 4 are rewarded. 1st gets home final etc.
