We can't hope that there was a performance criteria in there ? At least make the 8 ?

That's what i would have in his contract. It was not as if he had other clubs knocking his managers door down
Yes you have a fair and sensible approach to this issue however, you are up against those who appointed Mary with no logical reason for doing so; except of course a backroom deal.

I am convinced that Mary is not up to first grade standard as do many others on this forum. The only way to get on top of this problem is to sack Mary no matter what the financial implications.

watching Garrick blitz it at manly was ever so depressing

West Coast,
I am very happy for Garrick to get his chance at Manly. The disappointing thing is never having a chance with the Dragons. I probably saw him play about 7-8 times in JF and NSW Cup. I didn't find him especially impressive for a junior Rep player but in the last game he played for the Dragons when the NSW Cup team was eliminated I thought he was an absolute standout and the go to player in the backline.

When we have a pretty good lineup there will be players who must move on to secure a regular NRL spot but so disappointing not to have had a few games to show their ability at this level. Garrick was sent packing while Rava, Pearson and Maranta were picked up. At this stage Rava looks a stronger ball runner but Garrick looks much more secure under the high ball and can obviously kick goals.

Now Robson has had just one game plus a few minutes before moving on and the need to secure a backup hooker.

So only change is Field to 6 to replace Norman.
Plod is still there of course.

Still wait to see if this is the team that will run out on Sat. Somehow I'm expecting to see Lomax moved to 5/8 with lovechild to centre and Field as the reserve back.

Why do I keep imagining this?

Because we’ve been smashed with Aitken @ #3 for 5 fuc*in years

I expect the same, your lineup seems to make more sense to me but hey it would be good to see what Field can do,

there must be more to the Garrick thing- surely they didnt let a promising junior go who represented and could kick goals too, just to pick up a Canberra under 20s player who was untried and unknown and then rub it in Garrick's face by selecting that same guy over other promising juniors. Well done Manly, you have very few juniors but you sure can pick up good players from dumb junior rich clubs like us.

I thought the same thing as soon as I heard Norman's injury confirmed.

It makes no sense to me but I wouldn't put it past Mary.

Seriously, if Field gets overlooked here then he might as well walk.

He should get a decent crack at it for as long as norman is out.

Tariq to be his bodyguard in defence while Jai settles in...

His bench is more of the same.
Is there any brain cell there???

Only scattered & chronically impaired synapsing detected in the prefrontal cortex (decision making)

Unfortunately eh Brian?

But we can only try to help the poor bugger

So,
(now that the backline’s kinda sorted with our speedsters for Sat, at fuc*in’ last))
4 big mobile forwards on the bench with equal minutes would help remedy the 6yr blind spot re fatigue issues?

Especially considering that we’re down 2 topline forwards & have a couple busted?

The bench selections/management are now the root cause of our failure to close out games

Fatigue causes errors.

Missed tackles

You simply can’t sustain the power game carrying a back on the bench

Waterboy’s self-defeating stupidity in this respect alone is breathtaking

Four forwards on the bench is a must, especially against the warriors. But he’d probably go with Allgood anyway. Imagine having him Plodder & Luc on the field at the same time, the holes in the defensive line would be craters.

This game is going to be very hard to get a win ... At home they have their backs to the wall , if they play a got nothing to lose attitude , it could get ugly for us ....

Playing in Brisbane. Its closer to our home ground than theirs.
Warriors never turn up when they are meant to win. Last week they were pathetic against Knights at full strength. The week before they nearly beat Storm away understrength.
This week in Brisbane they will be underdogs and will turn up for sure.
Tough game for Dragons. I cannot see us winning.

Nikorima on debut with a point to prove in Brisbane. Im not liking this one bit with all of our outs.
It seems like we get these tough opposition scenarios way too often.
Im not confident for this one but we do seem to always lift at suncorp so hopefully that helps out.
Latimore on the bench is a downer yet again but Mary knows best, apparently.

Evidently losing 2 games on the trot including a didn't turn up 1st half and a fade out 2nd half doesn't require any changes of personnel or philosophy unless of course there is an injury.
How coach must hate injuries getting in the way of his cut and paste team sheet.
Every chance IMO that Nikorima will have a day out running around Latimore, Graham and Leilua.
I hope our forwards take it upon themselves to protect Field as I IMO the Warriors forwards will try and lay a cheap shot on him to take him out.

Just a thought for those lamenting Garrick leaving. If he'd stayed and got the wing spot ahead of Rava then he'd have been the back up goal kicker. Then there would have been no reason for Mary to replace Aitken with Lomax.

So if you can either have Lomax/Rava or Aitken/Garrick on the left, which do you pick?

Yes there is more to the story. Gone Garrick, Johns, Sele and Herbert and now on his way Robson.

There can be only one explanation Millward incompetence; what a MESS!
