Round 5 V Dogs

I have a feeling McGregor will go with this line up (not exactly mine, my team in bold):

1. Dufty
2. Periera
3. Aitken (imo this should be Lomax)
4. Lafai
5. Ravalawa
6. Norman
7. Hunt
8. Graham
9. McInnes
10. Vaughan
11. Leilua
12. T. Sims
13. Friz

14. Lawrie
15. Latimore
16. Kerr (but wouldn't be surprised to see Allgoods name here, however I'd go for Robson here)
17. Lomax (should be Aitken if he insists on having a back on the bench)

18. Field
19. Allgood
20. Pearson
21. Robson

I think its a good opportunity to bring Robson into the 17 as the "extra" forward, to cover bother hooker and on an edge. This would allow for McInnes to move to 13 (if required) and Friz to the edge (if required). I'd also look at moving Kerr into the 15 jumper in place of Lats.

Mary has said that he will ALWAYS carry a back on the bench while ever he coaches NRL.
Robson should have tendered his resignation the minute Mary made that statement.
He was very clear about it.

I am praying to the football gods that Aitken gets injured for an extended period.

Frank, you should never wish for any of our squad to be injured.

Euan Aitken is a wholehearted performer. Runs very hard. His first instinct is to tuck the ball under his arm and run. Cannot see him ever being consistently able to set up his winger. For some players like Lomax, it comes instinctively. In Euan's case, his first instinct is run on his own.

Whoever is the defensive coach, should resign immediately, closely followed by Mary.

Why are Dufty, Aitken, Leilua, and Hunt are such poor defenders?

Hunt and Aitken are anxious and lack confidence in one another. Dufty is relatively small so technique is super important for him.

Luc looks like he isn't keen on physical contact.

No more injuries thanks Frank!

I can't wish harm on any of our players; it is definitely not Aitken's fault that he is selected each game, it is Mary's decision and that is where the discontent should be targeted.

Instead of Aitken breaking an arm, I would dearly love to see Mary get caught for DUI again. Even our conflicted Board of management could not justify an extension if that happened.

Defensive and Forwards Coach side of things. Dean Young who has never played in the backs at top level. Mary has to take some responsibility being the Top Dog for our backs defense.

For Dufty and Hunt, the problem is size (or lack thereof). However, at least Hunt usually has a decent crack at tackling.

For Aitken, it’s a combination of poor technique, an inability to read what’s in front of him, bad habits and deeply shithouse coaching.

For Leilua...well, he’s just lazy.

Also Benny Hornsby is backs coach.
But agree the buck ends with Mary he is head coach.

True Samy but is not Benny apparently responsible for the attack, edge? and game management side of things but the name they give his role is some modern BS description. I thought the whole defensive side is Young? and Mary

The necessary changes to the squad SHOULD BE rudimentary.

1. Lomax in for Aitken.
2. Pearson for Ravalawa
3. Kerr for the injured Korbin Sims

As with others, I’d love to see Robson’s inclusion at Leilua’s expense.

My bench:

14. Latimore
15. Kerr
16. Lawrie
17. Robson

Then again, unless something dramatic has happened overnight, McGregor is still (annoyingly) the coach.

Ravalawa keeps his spot. He is improving each week.
Aitken will never be dropped unless injured although I agree with you, Lomax should be there, lets see if he is the chosen one like many believe he is.
Kerr for Korbin, yep agreed.
Im off Leilua btw. He is a liability.

Ravalawa is hopeless defensively and has far too many errors in him NOT to be a liability also.

Also, he’s not all that quick either.
