I was thinking about my previous post and as to whether I missed something or perhaps misunderstood coach and low and behold there actually was another possibility to consider.
Coach said that when we have Dufty, Widdop, Norman & Hunt (anyone remember the big 4 at Tigpies) are on the field at the one time it will be exciting to watch.
I thought why don't we actually start with them and have Mc Innes on the bench to replace Hunt as hooker because then we would get the excitement at the front end of the game rather than the back and that would save a lot of spine movement?
Then I remembered coach mentioned that, it would work best when the opposition forwards are tired so obviously they aren't tired at the beginning of the game, so how do we go about getting them tired to execute the plan? (Maybe send them a bootcamp brochure)
Well of course we have to win or at least be well on top in the 1st half to have any hope of doing that and bingo we have actually been on top both 1st half's played this year.
So far so good eh.
But of course the 1st thing we need to do when on top is put on Lats because no doubt he is a ramrod that will help tire out the opposition forwards even more. I mean the punishing runs he makes and the bulldozing defence he contributes is what opposition sides hate about our team.
Or perhaps this scenario is more apt
When our forwards get tired from the scintillating 1 out x 5 tackles attacking plan we execute maybe the opposition forwards will get even more tired from side stepping us, brushing us aside like flies and of course by scoring long range tries (very tiring indeed).
So how many points in front do the opposition have to be before we unleash the master plan?
The answer is it doesn't matter because 10 minutes left in the game is more than enough for us to weave the magic that is Mc Fookknuckle football.
Rest easy people all coming together nicely and the key components all embracing the plan.

I think k Sims is an obvious choice at the right edge. He has played there before. And let's be honest we played t Sims in the middle the first year or two he came to the dragons and now he is fantastic on the left edge.

I thought we lost our way when leilua came on. Not sure what to do with him because in attack he is very good and dangerous. But he is lazy in defence and lacks and punch in the tackle.

All this widdop bashing needs to stop. Our forwards were completely outplayed in the second half. In the first half widdop, Norman and hunt combined well. So we really need to see our forwards step up and win the middle. Then we will see how effective the positional switch is.

Whoever said lafai should be dropped was watching a different game to me.

Wing is a problem for us. But we didn't anticipate McDonald leaving so would have been too late to the player market to secure something decent.

Unfortunately we miss leeson. And we miss de belin. And now we miss frizell.

I thought Blake Lawrie is adapting well to first grade. Good intensity. Hard task starting but will be all the better for it.

And hunt to hooker is not the answer. He could not defend in the middle for half a game and be an effective hooker. Mcinnes is the man. Or Robson.

Leilua was not fit enough for first grade in the past two rounds and not withstanding this, he is a left edge forward ont a right edge forward where Mary selected him to play. K Sims and Host will do a much better job on the right edge.

The only reason we have so many comments about Widdop at fullback is because Widdop played so poorly in that position for the first two rounds. If there was not a question mark over Dufty - defence and confidence under the high ball - Widdop would not be our fullback and maybe not at the Club for season 2019.

The Club has done a poor job when recruiting replacements for Nightingale and Macdonald, if we plan on be competitive in 2019, we need to address this problem before June 30.

I don't understand the reluctance to include Robson in the 17. His contract is up at the end of this season and his track record is excellent. If only Mary could imagine how much variety and zip he would bring to the side when McInnes has his rest, Robson would be a must in the 17 each week.

After watching things unfold over the past two rounds, I am now not a fan of the spine re-shuffle - all their just to take a look at Dufty who is lucky to get 10min and in the last two rounds, the game was lost already and Dufty did not make any difference at all.

Not b
Hardly enough to drop him or start making him the whipping boy.
Plenty of others that make constant mistakes week in week out and still get a 1st grade start.
Let's see how the penalty magnet Korbin Sims goes and if he concedes a few whether you will bag him as well.
I am not bagging him at all, you sound like a fitzsimons rant, I stated that as a fact. He said it himself it wasn't an ideal start.

"I had a lot of nerves going through me and the boys wanted me to bring energy but I probably did it the worst way possible by giving away a penalty," Kerr said.

I am looking forward to him coming back, so....
Settle down oldtimer you can get a bit worked up sometimes. It's OK.

We are all not fans of the spine reshuffle .. it's like this Dufty either plays or off to Cup side he goes ...... he can only cover 1 position (waste of bench use) No disrespect to him, and he is not a game winner from behind.
Norman shouldn't get to walk straight in (previous form didn't warrant it) it's confusion, it's pointless
Make a damn call and stick with it.

Does anybody know or can make an educated guess why Luciano is obviously not match fit at the start of the season? Has he been carrying an off season injury that has prevented him training with the squad? This is supposed to be a professional sport where the top players are on big money and usually have no other work commitments to prevent them training. Last season Mary was criticized for training them to a peak too early. He seems to have done the opposite this year.

Love the way coach has said Dufty is actually on the bench as an "outside back replacement" which surely must mean he is not there as Mr X Factor.
So what we actually do is replace a forward and reshuffle 3 positions in the backline and in fact we don't replace a back at all, we just shuffle them around into different positions.
So that IMO means that, Hunt is actually a forward replacement and that constitutes the beginning of all the changes which in fact are now 13 - bench, 9 - 13, 7 - 9, 6 - 7, 1 - 6, 14 - 1 and that is technically very different to 14 - 1, 1 - 6, 6 - 7, 7 - 9, 9 - 13, 13 - bench.
Now that we have determined that 13 is the issue it all makes sense as that is the very reason why we had Mann on the bench.
Paperweight backs as a bench spot to help fill gaps in the forwards and not give the hooker a break and of course Dufty is a much better option than that loser Mann and both are / were better options than another forward (who is Robinson anyway?)
So none of this is actually new it is just a continuation of an already "proven" coaching tactic and we offloaded Mann (to get a better result) who by the way now just replaces the Newcastle hooker and no other positions change as a result of that.
FMD Browny has no idea he needs to have a coffee with coach and learn a few things.
He's a real innovator L plate, That's for sure.:confused::confused::confused:

The timing of McGenius interchange selections are set in stone before our players run on to the field.

Can’t even say Mary is reactive.

Unqualified dope.

Long may he paint.

Well I am very disappointed with the line-up this week. I will be attending the game alongside mates who all follow the Broncos. I will be hoping for a miracle but just have a bad feeling that tonight my mates are going to have a lot of fun at my expense; just like I did when we wathed the finals game on Fox last season.

Waterboy’s doing a great job on deskilling, deconditioning & destroying Zac in his efforts to maintain Aitken at 3 at all costs.
The sabotage of the kid began with his deselection from a rampant semi team, then selecting him on the wing, then dropping him.

FMD how long is it since he’s had a game?

And when he does get a run Aitken & Waterboy will be quietly deathriding his every move.

C’mon Jack (remember he chose Euan over you & now Zac)

Burn the arrogant prix tonight

There isn’t a word in the English language that adequately accounts for this imposter’s craven stupidity, malicious intent & bogan boofheadedness

Oh what I would give to see a Jack Bird / Lomax centre pairing at SGI. Just imagine how much differnt out backline would be. If only we had Club officials that did not shoot us in the foot at every opportunity.

Why do some people have this bizarre idea of wanting to play Korbin Sims on an edge? He's started 10 games total in the second row in his 120 game career. He's a prop, or a middle or a centre forward or whatever we're calling them these days.

Next thing you know, people will be saying Gareth Widdop should play fullback...

Mary's recent press conference after arriving in Brisbane. Shut up everybody..the spine will gel. Patience it is only Round 3. Rome was not built in a day. The North Rocks to Normanhurst tunnel was not built in a year...and you will see a great contest between Bird V Aitken as they played Juniors together who Mary proudly coached.
Funny how Parra, Cronulla & in part Warriors /Canberra, Melb, Roosters (fill ins), new spines already have gelled. It is called attack practice at training. Something we obviously dont do enough of.
Anyway Dragons blown out already to about 11th place and $23 to win the comp. Get on em quick.....or..wait a few weeks

Yes, but it was very close from just before half time till the end of the game.

I was very please when I arrived home to be greeted by my 11 year old son who was mad as a hatter with joy. He watched the game at home on this occasion as no kids were invited this time.
