We have a serious lack of quality in our outside backs and a lack of quantity at second row.

We really need to address this in the off season.

I mean... Pulu is just sitting in reserves the whole season. I don't know about quantity being a significant issue at second row. As for centre (since it's just centre), we don't know what we have for sure... because dickhead won't bother to get a decent look at anyone outside of Kaka.

Its boggles the mind what Kearney is seeing in Kata that a majority are not.
Defensively a massive liability.
On attack, makes some poor decisions at times that are self centered.

There has to be some logic applied to Kata's continued selection in first grade. I think it has to be because he's generally considered to be dangerous in attack.

The opposition would think this too, they don't want Kata running at them. He has a bit of the 'X-Factor'.

The logic apparently is, Kata is a great battering ram. And it's true, to be sure, but only if the stars and planets align (weak opponents + plenty of friends in defence), and then after that there's so much wrong with him it's not even funny.

He can make a tackle when our line is solid, but as soon as it breaks up he's a jersey grabber who's almost never in position. He's prone to a knock on, doesn't communicate, is absolute bollocks at passing, and dies with the ball on tackle five countless times - all blunting potential scoring in a team that hasn't racked up big points in years. I think he lost me forever when he couldn't play the ball properly in finals footy.

But no says Mooks, what a great battering ram he is!

Kearney is fielding a player that scores 9 in one area and 3 everywhere else, against someone like Beale who'll give you a 7 all around, but doesn't have that "Kata magic" as you say.

TLDR; Kata sucks and Kearney is a moron.

Pulu and Papali'i have both been bulked up to play 13.

Our second rowers in first grade are Harris and Blair. Blair is not a second rower.

Our second rowers in ISP are Ayshford and Milne.

We "could" have second rowers but they've turned into middle forwards or wingers.

So apparently Kata is a battering ram? He has 12 tackle busts this year, which is not in the top 50 in the comp. I watch this team each week, as we all do, and I don't recall him running over blokes. He used to sneak over from dummy half, but then everyone cottoned onto the fact that >10m out he's going to run it if given the chance.

I know this is hypocritical because at the start of the season I said he should be given the right to get better. But Beale is a better option.

I know you read this Stephen. DO IT. NEXT WEEK.

I really don't get why Beale hangs around. He must like being in NZ because the bloke must be resigned to the fact he's never f**king playing first grade unless an injury forces it despite the fact he's the best centre at the club imo. I'm sure another team would give him a run. Surely would get some attention in the UK at least.

You kinda got to just go along with any coaches selections from an enjoyment pov.

You can't change it (no harm in complaining tho).

I just hope it works out. Otherwise it does my head in.

It's interesting they didn't re sign Kata when they gave Fus and Ken four years.

The Warriors have been treating Center as the least valuable in the team for years.

Dean Bell recruitment started that mentality.

The best teams always have at least one true rep level center.

Centers are more valuable than Wingers.

Going off the Warrior template they treat it the other way around.

Backrowers are more valuable than props by the way they use their big money.

Yet we get run over the top of.

Yet we a a club that can get clean ball to our Wingers.l

Absolutely, I mean what can you do.

I've accepted that Kearney will pick Kata regardless of whether he plays bad, so I just try to focus on WHY Kearney picks him (the positives) and I do see the good.

I might give Kata and Kearney shit but come game time, I'm rooting for everyone including those two. I can tell your the same and I respect die hard fans.

I can only assume that they are trying to get Katas confidence back by running him against a pairing of Kahu and O'Neill. IMO neither are noted defenders, and Kahu isnt a centre in all fairness although O'neill has made us look stupid a number of times.
