If the Dragons are looking to upgrade their offer...give him a chance to prove himself in the top grade. Let's see what we've got. Some blokes grow a leg in first grade...others lose one.
NB Rein is a gun. Won't disappoint.

Cam King isn't guaranteed a run. Dean Young may take over the interchange hooker role. Playing 2 rookie hookers is risky, especially against the reigning Premiers.

Tough call. I think to have him and Young on the bench makes both of them somewhat superfluous. Of course Young can play and is best when playing in the backrow but surely the Dragons would be better served by using another prop and having Young play at No.9 for 20 minutes. But King has to be given a chance. Rein will rarely play a bad game but just as rarely play a great game that King is capable of.

If Price was thinking this way, why would Fien have been in the team in the first place? Price obviously wants a specialist hooker on the bench and only see's Young as a running forward now. Cam King will get his shot this week, and I have a feeling that we will re-sign him shortly afterward.

I think this will be the team named but every chance that they may not risk De Belin's shoulder so Latimore to slot in

I think you are right. Don't expect miracles after one game but give him a few and I think he will do well. He and Rein would be a great combination and Rein won't get offered big money elsewhere becasue he will never do things like chip and regather like Farah did last Friday but he will never get trampled or consistently fall off tackles like Farah either. With King I think the Dragons may have the best qualities of both.

I see Rein as a younger faster Nathan Friend type hooker, solid in defense and can get your forwards moving onto the ball well, strong as and pretty sneaky too. King from what little I have seen of him doesn't remind me of anyone yet he seems unique in his style of play (which I think is better).

IMO the team should be and will be
  • Morris
  • Vidot
  • K. Stanley
  • Cooper
  • Nightingale
  • Soward
  • Hornby
  • Hunt
  • Rein
  • Weyman
  • Prior
  • Creagh
  • De Belin (Scott if he’s injured)
  • Merrin
  • Latimore
  • Scott (from the bench as he’s been out for couple of weeks)
  • Young
My thoughts are that it would be great to try King but going through the middle is the best way to break Manly down, especially after they played last night and you need power off the bench to do that. I’d be giving Rein more time on the paddock and Young a little time at DH.
Price has played both Creagh and Prior for 80 minutes of late so 2nd Row rotation is not favoured by him at the moment which is why Scott was playing in the centres.

The alternatives of leaving Young or Scott out seems to be counter-productive
The alternative of putting Scott back to centre and Style to fullback would seem possible but a little illogical.

Interesting…

No-one knows what King is capable of until he is put under pressure in the top grade.

Rein has the runs on the board.

Cant disagree with that team. Believe that Young will slow us down dramatically though at DH....

Hi Guys....First time poster but lifelong Dragons fan!

King will get his first crack at first grade this week, Fien out for 4 weeks.

King to replace him.

We need 2 props on the bench. With Scott returning you would think Prior drops back to the bench leaving only one bench spot for either Young or King.

Is anyone calling for Young to go and King to come in?

For King to get a run it looks like either Prior or Young goes to the Cutters.

Something tells me that scott will go back to the centres, vidot will be dropped and stanley back at fullback with morris back on the wing. That means young won't need to be dropped and king can just replace fien on the bench.

Scott in for De Belin, King in for Fien and Cooper in for Green. three straight swaps. Scott would push prior back to lock, Kyle stays at right centre.

I think this is the lineup that will take the field on saturday night (barring freak injuries at training, etc) seems pretty strong to me.

Hopefully Price isn't too young to have seen the old Mortein adage
"If you're on a good thing...stick to it!"

To switch back and be clobbered by an understrength Manly would earn the ire of fans and cause the blame to be sheeted home to poor team selection.

Agree 100%, Morris just looked to be in his element at fullback.
