Afoa is leaving gaps in the line as he does not show any urgency in defence. Attack is a problem with the Warriors, but if Kearney keeps accepting players who don't even get into the space to compete for the tackle, the they will continue to get flogged each week.

At least if your defense holds, you can be in it. Lisone is also a lazy defender.

You're right about defending, about 4/5ths of our conceded tries this year came down to our limp wrists rather than opposition brilliance, and usually we let a couple in early just to make sure we're always chasing our tails.

I honestly wonder wtf Sir Kearney is up to during training, these guys can't even play basic basic footy.

The dreaded 'Who Replaces Mooks?' thread can't be far off.

Not now though. Please, not now.

I'd like to see a lot of underperforming players dropped before we drop another coach.

Gubb is still a big problem for me. Watching Gavet and Lisone rumble up in tandem and the difference it made was a reminder that it's not much good having a great prop (Lillyman) when he is partnered by a Gubb.

Johnson, Ayshford and Fusitua -
Aysh made a few errors but he was a last minute call up. I thought his right side with SJ and Fusitua showed glimpses of what they can become. Note no real errors from the back three when it came to receiving kicks, thats cos Tui wasnt there as actual outside backs were. Ken did stuff up a bomb to his wing but Ken normally averages a turnover a game and gets away with it by many. Fusitua missed an oppertunity but the defenders really werent drawn, he still had 2 guys to beat on that occasion.

Vatuvei -
Although Ken Maumalo had a fair game, his two errors (couldnt catch a bomb early on and a wild pass) and a inability to score of a backline play, sees him sit out for Manu. Fusitua couldnt finish off a break from SJ but Fusitua is twice the player Ken is.

Are we at the stage were it's time for a real clean out and rebuild? Players need to be held accountable for this shit. Can we drop half the team at the end of this year and recruit like mad for some blokes who actually give a f**k? I'm so tired of nothing ever changing with this mob. In fact, it is changing - it's getting worse. If that's even possible. Something drastic needs to change and Kearny needs the balls to do that quickly. If we keep carrying on with these same poor losses and only minor tinkering with the roster, we're fighting for wooden spoon all year.

Dont know if yous remember but last year we spoke about inconsistent performances within our pack. Whilst Gavet played well yesterday, Im not sure if he will give us that performance every week. Im sure he'll try to do better than yesterday but his career in the NRL has been a roller coaster with games in reserve grade and then first grade.

Gavet is just one of many uncertainties. Apart from Mannering, Lillyman and Hoffman as permanent fixtures, the rest of the pack is debateble as theyre inconsistent. Gubb is looking like hes getting cut, but is he? Afoa started the preseason games with solid performances but he seems to be on the decline or am I missing his good work? If Kearney sticks to rewarding those who played well then Gavet is playin next week, I hope.

Your anti Gubby stuff is getting very tedious. How many tackles did he make in the first twenty? People raving about Gavet but his body position in the tackles is rubbish. His defence is not as good as Gubbs. Sao, what did he do?

Michael Luck and even Kevin Campion were plodders when it came to attack but earnt their places in defence.

Gubby is not the reason we are losing games. It is the lazy defenders in the miiddle of the park and bad reads in the centres.

I think the club are implementing a "Kiwi only" policy. Our recent signings RTS, Luke Sao and Blair.
This policy is going to backfire big time.
It is the Aussie journeymen who have worked best for us plus there aren't enough Kiwi's off contract in the positions we need.
The only sensible recruitment policy is to recruit the best available player for the position, whether he is black, grey or white.

If Kearney is serious, and I don't think for a minute he is, then Tui has to go.

It's been time for this for a while but instead the coach change band-aid keeps being applied.

If that's true then this club is doomed.

The greatest irony is that Cleary built from Aussie journeyman and left us with a team of mostly all grassroots capable of winning titles. Boy how that disintegrated.

Probably due to the aussie refereeing. The NRL is Australias baby. If New Zealand ever won it, it would be a travesty for them. With the man in the car with the brown paper bag thing, the gambling fiascos, its hard to trust some aussie players. Im guessing that could be why theyre not really recruiting aussie players like former Shark Jono Wright who knocked on an EASY pass to his hands to beat the Sharks last year.

people got all excited about us having the kiwi spine but they forgot about the extra effort players make when playing for their country... and they are usualy one off games. not a 26 week season.
Plus, that spine used to operate behind a good pack full of players like JT, Marty Kapow, and Jesse B.

So put that spine behind our powderpuff pack and you can see the difference. we are shit. I wish it wasnt the case as i wont support another team. Which means i am stuck in this recurring nightmare for god knows how long.....

So you're telling me that Gubb is comparable to Luck and Campion in defence? Fmd.

Its gettin up for the occasion and that state of mind where players play beyond themselves. Take Dane Nielsen for the Maroons - he played average, average, average for his club. He then puts on a Maroons jumper and hes someone else! Then he goes back to average performances in the NRL.

Gubb just does his job but just barely does it in some areas. I dont think Gubb plays bad, I dont think Gubb plays great, I dont think much of Gubb and thats his problem. We need what hes doing and more or else he will start to look more and more like a passenger everytime hes picked.
