Tough on Tui yesterday as he would have trained all week at wing then told 5 minutes before he was in the halves. I even watched him warmup on the wing. But if Manu is ok then him in tui out

Sure. If he hasn't played there you don't expect the combinations.
But he says he's a half. Well a half with one defender to beat in the opposition 20 on the 4th tackle doesn't kick the ball.
The point is all the positions he covers we have better players available.
If he didn't have 50 NRL games experience and he was playing in ISP cup I can't see many people clamoring for him to be promoted to the first team.

Plus Kearney was the one to say he wanted the players to perform "above the line". Is Tui doing this? So why reward him week after week?
Give someone else a go.

Maumalo didn't go too bad but he does something bad every week. Clips underneath will play right before his stuff ups. Just stop after the clip to save your data if you get capped internet.

That says far more about how shit we are than how good Maumalo is. He wouldn't get a starting spot any any other club.

I noticed that yesterday he hit the ball up twice in a set of 6 3 times. Hes doing a props job so if the props did their job perhaps he could concentrate on being a winger
Yeah but at the same time if the props did their job it would take away the main reason Kens in the team. Hes not really there to score tries otherwise he wouldnt be sitting on 3 tries for 20 something games. Hes there to those hit ups. Its easy to get involved and I do respect that but its the quality of those hit ups. I didnt even know he attempted those many hit ups in one set because they werent outstanding, the commentry didnt even mention it.

As much as I agree our pack doesn't get us much go forward, I really think it's that they lack creativity as much as anything.

We've had no dynamic players or natural off-loaders in pack for these 1st 4 games. I wouldnt expect a lot from our props but we get nothing from our back 3 in this department. There is no 2nd phase for Luke, SK, Tui, RTS to work off. Its easy to say our tight forwards give us little go forward but we're not working as a unit. Regular offloads gets 2nd phase working and the defenders on the back foot. It's much easier to run through them when they're retreating.

For the rest of the year we've got to use the squad we've got and make do. I really think we need more ball players in there. I saw the Reserves had Clarke, Roache and Tevaga all in their 17 on Saturday. Maybe we need to go this way a bit more and have more attavking options?? I thought Shaun stood up a bit last night but he had zero help from anyone else. Knock-on's, poor options or just plain laziness.

We could do a lot worse than having Tevaga play at 13 and Roache off the bench at 14. Then with Luke playing 9, all of a sudden there's a lot more options. Luke's not currently an 80 min player. He needs to really go hard for 25-30 and then get fresh legs in there.

Those 1st 15-20 of the 2nd half we looked really sharp. Dummy half runs and line runners off the ball and all of a sudden it gave us options. Our middle forwards started to look good doing their work and we showed a bit of desire and direction. We need this for a full 80 though, not 15 minutes when they feel like it. Bloody frustrating.

Come on SK, show us all you've got the metal to make some tough calls or at least have the ability to mix up the game plan!!

Queensland coach Walters spoke on NRL 360 tonight about us getting too structured. Ben Ikin added that we start the game playing like we don't want to lose it and when time is running out, we start to play some football. So basically they feel this safe approach with no offloading isn't what they come to expect of the Warriors. Funny thing is - we're being coached not to offload by a coach who in his playing days was one of the best offloaders the clubs had!

I like the discipline to structure Kearney is trying to install into the players but I don't think Kearney expected our pack to perform inconsistently. Im talking about mediocre individual efforts to surge forward and really put us on the front foot. Can we at least have one set per game where two forwards have good metre-eating carries? Just one set please. Kearneys plan is generic, structured and sensible but at this stage Im not sure if its for our specific pack. If you had 1st hit up Kasiano, 2nd Fifita, 3rd Taumalolo and 4th Hess, these guys would make Kearneys plan look masterful as you could imagine our platform for our backs will always be deep in opposition territory.

We know as fans that our forwards last year never got to be classed as 'there', the best they managed was 'thereabouts' so theres been little to no improvement in our pack from last year even with the organisational skills of Luke. Mannering is the only player in the pack who's world class but his go forward is just above average.

Maumalo's been lucky enough to not be exposed enough this season for his complete ineptitude as a winger. It's just a matter of time before, like last year, someone has a field day with him.

All that said though, we have a lot more to fix before worrying about Ken, and the effort is certainly in the right place.
