Sironen is a talent. However most his playing career has been at five eighth.

He doesn't have the skillset for a back rower yet.

When he hits the ball up, his instinct as a ball player is looking to create, instead of trying to go forward.

I think he's a genuine old school Lock.

He's got the perfect skillset for a centre, but is too slow, especially laterally.

Back rower, 5/8, Centre, Sheensy is that you?!

Sironen is a jack of all trades and a master of none. The guy is surviving on his name alone. Give him the rest of this year and into next to prove himself before throwing him on the scrap heap. He is keeping better players out of first grade with his 'versatility'.

Problem is there is no old school lock anymore. That backrow position doesnt exist anymore.

Your petulant attempt at an insult aside, the point of my post is that he needs to be given a clear role & then develop into it.

Right now he's more of a slow centre, skill wise, as its a cross between where he has played most (five eighth) and where he should be playing (back row).

Sorry that wasn't clear to you.

Would Sirro be any slower laterally then Lawrence ? He would beat him him all other aspects needed for a centre.

It'd be close, but i think Lawrence would be slightly quicker.

At the least, you'd f**king hope he is.

To be totally honest my disenchantment with the club is returning slowly week by week back to the Sheen's era . What the f**k has really changed ? Honestly nothing really has , if anything we are going backwards considering the talent we have available . We still get dominated through the forwards , we leak points like crazy the same as we always have , we pick useless merkins that everyone in the rugby league world know are f**king dogshit , we never smash a side and put huge points on the board ..infact we are pushing shit up hill to even score enough points ..then to top it off we release players capable of doing so , or leave them on the bench or outside f**ktards that couldn't set up a tent .
Im seriously looking forward to us getting an arse kicking in the hope this shit will finally f**king stop.

As much as I hate to say it I agree Macnaz. I have been going on about this recently and I think Potter needs to reassess his selections...we need to score more points!!!

We have a halfback and a fullback, not makeshift piss poor versions of them. We have structure that works more often than not and it has allowed us to start getting value out of Adam Blair. We have props that are props, not slow backrowers (or centres). We don't have centres at five-eighth, five-eighths at halfback, five-eighths at fullback, locks at hooker, centres at prop et al. We are starting to accumulate decent depth.
if anything we are going backwards considering the talent we have available .
we had 7 wins for all of 2013 and 11 wins in 2012 (when we were favourites to win the title). If anything we have improved our performance, results wise.
We still get dominated through the forwards ,
Which will be rectified by having decent defenders in the back row. Thompson, Sironen and Akoula are poor defenders but good attackers.
we leak points like crazy the same as we always have ,
We have conceded 4 tries or more in a game 5 times this year. At the same time last year we had conceded 4 tries or more in a game 9 times. and in 2012 it had happened 5 times in the same time.
we pick useless merkins that everyone in the rugby league world know are f**king dogshit ,
We have less useless merkins in the side this year than in nearly any other year under Sheens.
we never smash a side and put huge points on the board
We're 9th in attack so far and have scored 40+ once and 30-39 once this year so far, at the same time in 2013 we had scored 30-39 once
..infact we are pushing shit up hill to even score enough points
which has always happened when we were without Farah or Benji/or had Benji in shit form ..
then to top it off we release players capable of doing so
Koro would've needed to get the ball first. Our wingers have suffered all year because our halves are playing wider only allowing the centres to get any opportunities, if at all.
, or leave them on the bench or outside f**ktards that couldn't set up a tent .
I'll pay that
Im seriously looking forward to us getting an arse kicking in the hope this shit will finally f**king stop.
I personally understand your frustration of late, but the season as whole has been an improvement on the last two seasons where we were going backwards dramatically. That has stopped and we are looking at being a better team over the next several years.

Anasta was a Sheens purchase and his career ends this season. I dare say Potter is keeping him in the side purely to help Brooks. I don't agree with it at all, but that is the only reason I can see why he keeps being picked.

Brooks will have a season under his belt next year and will have formed a solid combination with Tedesco and Farah which will be the perfect environment to bring Moses into.

Everything about our 2014 campaign for me, has been about setting the side up for long term success, starting in 2015.

I can cope with a bit of inconsistency for a season while this is being sorted.

2015 is where the results and improvement needs to come, because by then, most of Sheens purchases will be out of the side and Potter will have his own mob.

Gee it's good to read that others say the same thing about Siro.

Hype, the name, friends of his old man at 2GB are the ones talking him up and whilst he may have been a school boy champ, he's playing 1st grade now and needs to develop/learn his trade in a position he and the coaching staff want him to play in/at.

Interesting while the team discussion around the bench and the fact that Gavet is missing again, A look at the NSW Cup team this week shows us that, Gavet and Patterson must be both on the injury list still.

1. JY HITCHCOX 2. COREY BROWN 3. ASIPELI FINE 4. KEITH LULIA 5. SETEFANO TAUKAFA 6. MITCHELL MOSES 7. MICHAEL STEVENS 8. JACK BUCHANAN 9. JOEL LUANI 10. MICHAEL BULLOCK 11. SITALEKI AKAUOLA 12. JARRED FARLOW (C) 13. KYLE LOVETT 14. NATHAN BROWN 15. BRENDEN SANTI 16. SAM HOLLIS 17. INNO INOSESIO 18. SONNY BRISTOW

Interesting that Potter hasn't called on Buchanan again !

I don't disagree with you MU, but f**k, we seem to say these type of sentiments, every year. Like us all, I want "this year" to be our year, as you know, next season is always a year away.

We live in hope.

I think in the past though we all knew it was bullshit spin because the side barely ever changed.

It's much much more obviously the case this time around

2012
1 - Moltzen
2 - Ryan
3 - Ayshford
4 - Lawrence
5 - Tuqiri
6 - Humble
7 - Marshall
8 - Woods
9 - Farah
10 - Galloway
11 - Blair
12 - Fulton
13 - Heighington

14 - Ellis
15 - Murdoch-Masila
16 - Bell
17 - Utai

You look at that and compare it to our team now, and its pretty clear we are moving forward and setting up for next season and beyond.

Our 2014 side is younger as well as full of players in their correct positions and with a better bench and better depth.

Completely agree with your posts MU.

There is no way anyone can say we are going backwards. We have the nucleus of a premiership team, most of which will only improve with time. The issues that we are having are not long term issues as MU pointed out.
Worse case scenario Anasta plays the rest of the year at 5/8 and we have to put up with Austin on the bench. Not the end of the world.

As for Sironen, geez give the guy a couple of games before we judge him. He's trained the entire off season as a back rower and was showing big promise in the trials and the back end of last year. Give him time.

I drove past Concord oval today and saw the boys were training and couldn't help myself but stop and have a look.
Our physio bloke was working with Gavet stretching his leg on an elastic thingy. He looked quite flexible, but still had his right thigh bandaged up. When he finished, he walked away without a limp of any sort.
Then saw Paterson, and said to him that it must suck being out so long over just a finger. He pointed to his palm and said the surgery impacted his hand more than just a finger. He said the boys were giving it to him deluxe being out of action because of his finger, not even a man's injury like a hammy or pec !. His hand was in a brace that looked more long term than not.
I didn't realise Tedesco is so big !. He looked to be only a couple of inches shorter that Richards, and has really developed his upper body.
Moses, on the other hand looked like someone's little brother that tagged along for a run with the boys. He's got the skills, but his body is nowhere near NRL size yet.

Moses upper body is horribly small. At least Brooks has a bit of size (for a little fella) to his torso. Moses looks anorexic in comparison

LU spy at training gets all the news! Well done. We should set up a roster so one of us can drop by their training each week to suss what is going on. You didn't get a chance to hobble Anasta, did you?

They were playing 2 hand touch footy, and Banasta looked quite sharp in the game. I slapped myself to help come to my senses, but he still looked good in that game.
Perhaps Potter is confusing this with first grade NRL.
Next week I will put my favourite Cornu( Sthn Italian implement of curses ) in the car and conjure up my bestest curse on his half Greek arse.

Watching NSW Cup on the weekend and noticing how small Moses is was shocking. He is legit tiny. If he played NRL at that size he would be the most frail NRL player I have ever seen. Even Campbell, Hodgson & Roy f**king Bell had more size than him.
