Team vs Storm

Its a big pack with Stapleton, Tsoulos and Vella all starting and great to see Lookat on the bench.

Here's hoping that the backline does shuffle a bit as Burt and Langi up against Bell and MacDougall could get embarassing.........

Good to see Thorman in a position he actually is suited for......

I really dont like the look of that backline. Some of the worst defenders in key positions! Surely Wagon would have been a better choice at Centre than Burt!

Why do people want Prems players promoted. Incase you dont know they are mid table and in recent weeks have drawn with Newtown come from 24 points behind to beat the Sharks and came from behind to beat Manly.

I cant belive Smith has been the coach since 1997 and some people still dont undertsnad that he usually changes his Tuesday team. Calm down people.

After the Morris thing against the Cowboys i dont Trust Smith at all!

Dykes started the year well but was not good against Cronulla or NQ.

Thorman deserves his spot. And Morris has been better than Dykes. I don't like the team but atleast something is changing.

Hardly putting on the pressure, are they

Coach – Brian Smith

1. McKinnon- couldn't rightfully be dropped; has done nothing wrong. His hit-ups have had venom, and is one of our leading hit-up go-to man. Safe, always in support for a break; CALLS for the ball (I like this quality in particular; we need more players calling for the ball)

2. Petersen- most of you would know I'm a Muzza fan; however, his form this year hasn't been great (but not many players' has been, admittedly). But he has infectious enthusiasm and can score tries; he is HARDLY our worst defender; and he hits hard in attack.

3. Langi- not surprised. Had a good game defensively V the Cowboys. Otherwise he is quiet. But a solid player nonetheless.

4. Burt- looks out of his depth at centre. But he did make a break or two against the Cowboys, indicating that if he gets enough ball and gets put itno enough space he can really create something.

5. Grothe- 'nuff said.

6. Wagon (C)- people are critical, but how many teams wouldn't want an 80 minute lock who makes 30 or 40+ tackles per game on a regualr basis? Sure, his attack lacks venom, but his job is to be the sponge in attack, and the enforcer in defense (albeit at the expense of a true 5/8).

7. Thorman- surprising. Although my bet is Dykes starts and Thorman comes off from the bench to replace him (although hopefully Thorman replaces Widders; thus allowing Wagon to move to lock and Thorman or Dykes to 5/8)

8. Tsoulos- 'nuff said. This kid is awesome and one of my faves, GO JT!!!

9. Morris- 'nuff said. Unlucky not to be at least considered for City-Country and the 30 man Origin squad (what crap; Wing, who is injured all year, plays a game or two after returning from injury, and Morris who has consistently been great gets ignored).

10. Vella- Good news to have him back. Experience and great kick returns, not to mention quick ball playing and strong defense.

11. Hindmarsh- 'NUFF SAID.

12. Stapleton- 'nuff said. Easily one of our best this year. Heart, mongrel, passion - this bloke is great.

13. Widders- I still agree with most people-he is nearly lethal off the bench as a utility lock. But oh well-GO WIZZ!

14. Dykes- see Thorman. IMHO, this guy and Morris NEED to be on the park for the entire 80 minutes or we will struggle.

15. Armit- 'nuff said. Another of my up and coming favourites. GO ARMPIT!!!

16. Peek- he's been good, but not great. But solid enough to warrant selection. Go Peeky!

17. Moi Moi- GIMME A HELL YEAH! ALL HAIL THE TERMINATOR!

18. Webster- another impact player. Probabky ommitted. Good, smart player though.

There's not much changes. Not a good thing.

I'm not sure about Thorman starting at halfback, but hopefully he'll play more than 20 minutes in a normal position.

Now ive got problems with this side, there are at least 4-5 players in PL that are ready for first grade but still cant crack it. Hopkins, Witt, Graham, Mucket.

And what the hell did Peek do wrong to lose his starting spot. Vella shouldve been named captain. Now I'm sure about this weekend.

I'm assuming that Smith is going to use Dykes like he did Shayne Dunley and Jimmy Webster last year only at 5/8 with any luck....

Muckert and Graham are not in form!!

Witt is defensively a liability and his attacking has been below par.

Peek was dropped just like everyone called for, unfortunately.

The problem I have with the team is the starting line up.
It looks like the game plan is to hold Melbourne to 0-0 for the first 20 minutes or so then inject Dykes to cause havoc and put points on the board for the remainder of the game.

Apart from or come from behind win Vs Manly, it is simply not a good formula for us. We need to put some points on the board early and let the opposition play catch up. If we fall behind badly like we did against the Cowboys we will not win.

i really like the forward pack! But i am concerned about the outside backs, defencively they just dont do it for me.

Its time for some new faces. We would be better off with some lower graders who are passionate players who put in 110% rather than most of our first graders who look like they couldn't give a stuff most of the time.

I don't understand the logic behind starting your most experienced half on the bench at the expense of a very talented yet inexperienced half who's been playing premier league all year #-o If anything it should be the other way around.

I guess we could say that Smith might make changes before kick off but seriously, why? What's the point to all this stuffing around with the line ups before the match and naming a side that never runs out as named? It's tedious and boring and it doesn't give us any advantage. Just bloody name the side that's going to play. If this IS indeed the side that actually plays then as I said, Dykes starting the game on the bench is plain stupid as is Wagon STILL wearing the number 6 and Burt STILL in the centres

Well atleast they put in a gigantic effort in the second half. I still can't believe they got a draw with Newtown. And Newtown played well all game too.
