Tedesco rumour

Reported on Fox Sports website today;
“It’s not about (money or the coach) — it’s about winning games,” Tedesco told reporters on Thursday.

“Every player wants to be playing finals footy and I haven’t done that for five or six years (since playing under-20s).”

http://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl...s/news-story/eeb3516bd7a67c978a6bd116ac8f523d

So Tedesco is mainly looking for success in the NRL competition and a chance to win a title. Money and coach are secondary.

Surely if we put up the coin and point to our success this year and our squad and coach for next year, we would have a great chance of securing his signature. It will be abundantly clear to him Sunday evening - after giving the Tigers a hiding - that the Dragons are the team to sign up with.

Good point but I doubt money would not be their first priority, and if it wasn't their Manager would quickly steer them in the money direction.

possm, I'm a little worried about you "liking" the following post.

It's not like you. Usually you would read the information, as I did and see there isn't a shed of information that contradicts my basic premise. I think you were just too hopeful about the possibility of Tedesco coming and Duges remaining. I very much doubt it. Other clubs have 2 or more players on big money but I think our entire starting forward pack, other than perhaps McInnes (who is probably still being paid partly by Souffs) is on good money. Recruiting Tedesco and keeping Dugan would mean 3 players on big money along with the entire forward pack on at least relatively good money. No, possm, sorry to say but there is no way the club will recruit Tedesco and keep Dugaes. You are dreaming.

I agree with you something is going on. Who does the club think is going to play fullback if not Duges? By all reports, Dufty doesn't look the goods.

But possm, of course I am right. Even if I didn't know, think about it? Almost every player in the NRL would be coming off contract at the time of a salary cap increase unless their managers were complete morons.

Are you really as stupid as you come accross.
It must fell better when you stop banging your head against the wall .

If he is looking for a team on the up that could him the fullback spot and potentially has the money as well, you would think we may be in with a shot. The only other clubs that I think fit that criteria would be the Rorters.

If Tedesco said “It’s not about (money or the coach) — it’s about winning games,” he is either full of shit or dumb beyond belief.
Very rare that the comp will be ever won by anything other than a proven coach, with extremely good and well paid cattle.

Apparently Saints had a bad relationship with Player Managers ( I think when Young was in Charge) and hence why we missed out on a few signings or why they never approached us to sign a player. Anyone know if that relationship has improved at all?

Duges is playing well but I still see Dufty/Field as the future. Duges will be good at centre. Funny how he wanted to be a centre last year and now he wants fullback. Pretty pi$$ed of that he is holding out for more cash seeing Saints saved him from the scrap heap. Some people have short memories.
Your right
Craig young is a problem at the club he was a shit coach and a shit recruitment officer
I don't know what his role is at the moment but he is one of the boys and keeps getting new positions at the club because he has stuffed every other position he has held

With recent reports suggesting Dugan is now content with an impending move to the centres, I get a feeling Saints will make a move for Bird on the premise he can play his favoured fullback position.

Dufty, for whatever reason, is on the outer, although I have been unreliabily informed he has an ego that doesn't endure him to teammates.

Widdop will leave.

I think that it pretty close Dragonslayer

Just one thing though.
If Widdop isn't re-signed then could we be chasing Foran?
I mean, he pulled out of the game last Sunday with a "hammy" complaint, only to be named again this week. Also, he has stated that he is open to returning to Oz next year.

I have been told the same about Dufty

My predictions are this (no mail just my gut feelings):

Tedesco will stay at the Tigers or sign with the Dogs
Bird will go to the Eels
Dugan will re-sign or go to the Roosters
Widdop will re-sign
All guesswork...who really knows...but I can see Dugan/ Bird and Tedesco all staying put.
Widdop is the one I'm not sure about..

If Tedesco wants to play finals footy, then he should be attracted to our club with the possible roster next year.

1. Tedesco
2. Macdonald
3. Dugan
4. Aitken/Milne
5. Garrick
6. Field
7. Hunt

What's not to like about that backline? One of the best in the comp in my opinion. Add the pack we currently have and you've got yourself a premiership contender there.

Yes that's the backline we want. So just sign Tedesco and we have it.

However, if they signed Bird, Millward would be happier:

Field
Macdonald
Aitken/Milne
Dugan
Garrick
Bird
Hunt

Rotate Dugan and Field during the game as required.

I think if Dugan resigns as a centre with the dragons the dragons will go after todesco as the new fullback

If Kurt Mann scored that exact try just imagine the reaction from this board. And i say that as someone who prefers Mann!
Yeah he did and he show e some strength to score it to, to be fair. The issue I have is that his kicking game was really really poor in my opinion.

You make a valid point there, Dragonslayer.
The Roosters are always under the cap and can sign the highest ranking player at a moments notice.
Ian Schubert has been of more value to the Rorters as an Auditor than he ever was as a player.

Not only that but his best mate Ferguson is there and they need a fullback next year with Gordon only having a 1yr deal for this year.
